With the UK #elections coming up, politicians are in full spin (lie) mode. Consequently, misinformation, and its evil twin, disinformation, are rife online.
To save me having to point out each and every time an untrue claim is made, I've created my own lttle response graphic.

Duran Duran's "Rio" came out more than 40 years ago, and people have speculated ever since about who inspired the cover artwork, which was created by illustrator Patrick Nagel. Consequence explains that a Nagel fan finally tracked it down to a Vogue Paris 1981 cover featuring model Marcie Hunt. Here's more — including the reaction of Hunt, who discovered at the same time as the rest of us that her photo had been used.

#art #history: please accept this quick scribbled birthday tribute to preeminent poet, essayist & activist, nikki giovanni (born #otd in 1943). as a member of the black arts movement, she became a leading light amongst the black power poets & at least one of her peers proclaimed her the 'poet of the black revolution'. she's also one of the only people i've seen leave james baldwin utterly tongue-tied.

#art #history: it's quite apt that a fascist-killing machine owner's birthday should coincide with recent events. he had the trump klan's number back in 1954 when he wrote about elder t's racist housing practices. this, alone, is enough for woody to've earned your undying love, but he was also a steadfast socialist/communist, an avowed anti-racist & a fierce defender of workers' rights. to top it off, his music remains an influence on the best folk. #woodyGuthrie #illustration #antifascist
