#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 16: blunder

A person hammers in a fence post for a barbed wire fence. The unusual aspect is that both the post and the person are standing in empty space, several feet past the edge of a cliff on which the fence originates. The person wears blue jeans and a reddish shirt. The sky is a greenish-yellow. Gravity is relative. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A figure with a stiff black suit, a white collared dress shirt, and a red tie stands against a blue sky with white clouds on it. The figure is wearing a black bowler hat. The figure also does not have a head, with a white envelope floating in space where its head would be. Those who know art will recognize René Magritte's painting "Son of Man". Those who know technology might recognize the iOS Mail icon.

musidora's my monday mood. i've always wanted to pay homage to her turn in louis feuillade's silent film series, 'les vampires'; so here she is, instructing us on how to deal with the real vampires: the billionaires & their sick ideology.
#musidora #illustration #lesVampires #vampires #billionaires #france #film #cinema #art

digital ink illustration that features musidora & riffs on the original 'qui? quoi? quand?' film promo.
musidora, in irma vep guise, stands on the right side of the image, a large, deep orange question mark draped around her neck.
on the left are the questions ('qui? quoi? quand?'), handwritten in white.
underneath each, respectively, in deep orange, are texts reading 'les milliardaires', 'les impots' & 'maintenant!'
underneath, towards the bottom of the page, handwritten in large, white type is the word 'tuons'. beside it, in orange & stacked on top of each other, are the words 'le capitalisme' & 'le vampire'.
in english:
who? the billionaires
what? taxes
when? now!

kill: capitalism

A glowing white figure on a dark background gathers together many colored threads. The figure has long arms and fingers that seem to act as a loom. Falling from its hands is a long, woven, greenish-yellow bolt of cloth. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A huge dark craft that looks like a slightly flattened sphere hangs in a pink evening sky. The top of the craft is an iridescent green. The underside reflects the pink light from the sky. Below is a scrubby woodland with a few trees, some living and some dead. In a small, brush-filled clearing is a crumbling green highway "Exit" sign, with an arrow pointing towards the craft. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A dark gray hill covered in grass. The time of day looks like either early morning or twilight. At the top of the hill, to the right of the drawing, is a large rectangular stone obelisk with the words "reject all" carved into it, and a giant red button—one of those round plastic things you might see on an arcade game or video controller—embedded in the stone. Somewhat down the hill, on the left side of the drawing, is the silhouette of a person. The person is approximately half the size of the obelisk. The sky is a mix of orange and yellow. High in the sky are two birds, perhaps hawks.

A bizarre ghost-shaped creature, vaguely reminiscent of the ghosts in Pac-Man. It has a dome-shaped head and no arms. The lower half of it is ragged. Its color is a mixture of crimson and roughly painted, iridescent green. The green texture extends beyond its body, as though it is dripping or glowing. The upper half of its body is covered by four eyes with multicolored irises. The largest, top-most eye has two irises. It also has three horns, and a glowing halo that appears to be dripping with paint.

A creature comprised of two halves that look like they're stacked on top of each other. The top half is the upper part of a head and nose. It is yellow-green, facing right, with three eyes that are looking down and to the left. The three eyes are different colors and have different colored concentric circles in the irises. The lower half has nothing but two short legs and a giant open mouth with teeth. The left side of the lower half is orange crimson; the right side is a glowing, bioluminescent green. The background is dark gray.

“Frank Quitely is widely celebrated in the comics world, but far less attention has been paid to how deeply his work engages with the cultural, historical, & visual identity of Glasgow & Scotland”

#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 3: crown

A large coat of arms, hanging in a dark blue space. The coat of arms is quarterly per pale and per fess Or and Gules, first and fourth Gules two crowns in fess Or, second and third Azure bendy of six Or; overall ensigned with a crown Or jewelled Gules. That is, it's a shield divided into four quarters. The top left and lower right quadrants are red with two gold crowns; the top right and lower left quadrants are blue with gold diagonal bars. Above the shield is a heavy gold crown with red jewels. The lower right quadrant, however, has a big chunk hacked out of it, with a small, shadowy, hammer-wielding figure wearing one of the crowns stolen from the shield. There's no blazon terminology for this. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 4: murky

A spread of photos and papers that look like they're fixed to a gray wall or a bulletin board. It's an eerie collection of items: grainy photos of lights in the sky and a triangular craft; a green X-ray of a head that does not look human; a black and white photo of a mummified head that looks distinctly alien; a sheet with "Evidence" on it in large red letters; another sheet with mimeographed purple writing, an indeterminate diagram, and a red heading of "Top secret"; and an ID badge. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

squeezing in one last decembird with this loquacious lad, gary nubird. the starling is rarer & rarer in scotland; so, sadly, i've never had the distinct honour of hearing one bust out a classic electro riff. i'll bet they do it all the time, though, with their little customised roland tr-808s.

#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 5: deer

The view from inside a car at night. Directly in front of the car, the road is illuminated by the headlights; bright yellow double-line to the left, single white line to the right. Dark woods loom all around, with the blue night sky above. Dead ahead, caught in the headlights, is a sinister figure: a humanoid creature with glowing white eyes and antlers like a deer's. To the right, clearly too late a warning, is a yellow diamond-shaped warning sign with the black silhouette of a leaping deer. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A person sits on the roof of a house at night. The sky is very clear and filled with stars. The house is in a large meadow, with the blurry suggestion of trees in the background. It has a window, but it's dark. The person is pointing a flashlight down towards the ground, squarely at the head of a large, unsettling figure lurching towards the house. The figure on the ground is hunched over, with unusually long arms; its posture suggests that it shuffles like a zombie. Low fog covers the ground. This is a predominantly blue painting with tinges of purple. It is signed "Chris Silverman".

#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 6: pierce

A remote landscape under a yellow sky. A small figure shines a blazing white flashlight beam into a gaping tunnel entrance carved into craggy gray rock. In the background is a blurry greenish suggestion of a wooded mountainside. Crouched on the rock directly above the tunnel, and looking all too close to pouncing, is a lithe dark-colored animal that, despite its long tail and an elongated head, looks eerily humanoid. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

Alright officially finished!

Quite like how it turned out. Will keep pushing further on the more abstract color and brushwork that I was doing in this one. It feels very lively I think. Seems like there's a lot of room for creativity there.
