Letzte Woche besuchte ich einen meiner Lieblingsorte. Ein abgeschiedener Bergsee, umgeben von einer unglaublichen Bergkulisse. Nur ich und ein paar Steinböcke. Seit gestern gibt es hier nun Schnee und das kleine Tal, in welchem der See liegt, ist dadurch möglicherweise erst im nächsten Juni wieder erreichbar.

Last week, I visited one of my favourite places. A secluded mountain lake surrounded by incredible mountain scenery. Just me and a some ibexes. Yesterday snow arrived, and the small valley in which the lake lies may not be accessible again until next June.

Central Cascades

I was trying to find a location with less rain showers this weekend and somehow ended up camping in the mountains. 🤔 Today was so fun and I want to remember that when the snow showers start in the morning. The mountain views have been stunning. Seeing how close I can get to Mount Washington tomorrow. Maybe the weather will be totally fine but I’m prepared to bail if I’m not able to stay warm.

Olympic National Park: Gladys Divide

Started the morning with a push toward Gladys. Impressed by the clear green waters of Flapjack Lakes. Amazed by the gray rocky cliffs along the divide. Found a boot path to summit Mount Gladys. Great experience even with the clouds. It was incredibly hot and humid after reentering the rainforest, something I’m not used to. Big Log camp had a little breeze and few bugs.

I hiked a large sand dune for the first time yesterday. What a unique experience! Quite a slog, hiking straight up the side to reach the ridge. A surprise with the challenge of walking the ridge— didn’t expect it to be so sharp. The drop-off on each side looked steeper/scarier than it actually was. A fun time! Bruneau Sand Dunes (Idaho)— 470 feet (143m) base-to-peak elevation change. #MountainMonday #hiking #nature
