Consider this: The #EU has just won 2 court cases against big tech. Yet these do not get continuous MSM attention. The USA banning #TikTok is wall-to-wall even here in Europe. We need to celebrate our wins more, not obsess about USA (frankly) incompetence.

Report: In panic, #Google management issued P0 (top priority) order for Gulf of Mexico change.
Apparently Google management issued a P0 -- quite rare -- ordering geo employees to drop EVERYTHING else and do it immediately! -- for the change from "Gulf of Mexico" to "Gulf of America" for U.S. users. They were also ordered to move the status of the U.S. to "sensitive" where it joins countries like Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Iraq that demand the use of names not used elsewhere in the world.
I can't emphasize enough how telling it is that a P0 was issued. To me, it suggests absolute panic in the C-suite.

Does anyone know of a better email hosting company? (I have 4 or 5 domains to move and want to make sure I can 'port all the current emails in my family's inboxes as well. I want to make this as seamless as possible).

Tentei seguir aqui o caminho de recuperação de senha numa conta minha, mas ele nem pergunta qual é a minha pergunta secreta.
A maioria das verificações envolvem ter um celular com o número cadastrado lá.

Google is innovating search in an amazing and yet predictable way — it’s removing the search results. There will only be the “AI Overview,” much loved by nobody.
You might think the point of search was to find a thing, then go to it. But then Google doesn’t make enough ad money. Trying to wheedle an answer out of a hallucinating robot might keep you on the page longer.
Edit: Reading the Google blog post about this change more carefully (thanks @picklish ), it seems more of an experimental feature than a default. I think the worry that Google will eventually make "AI overview" the default is a real and valid one, but I don't it's the case right now. If it ever does happen we will need to stop using the word "Google" as a synonym for "search" and declare RIP Google, 1998 - 2025

So I suppose a new #introduction is in order. Hello! New #software engineer at #Google (first job!) in the #Seattle area. Canadian; moved from Montréal. Once infamous for making Barinsta, then promoted open source and federated platforms, now back to coding a lot. Public transport fan and avid radio listener. Silly at times; still learning about adulting. Love to #MeetUp with new people and explore new places (taking nice pictures on the way)!
It is now possible to add YouTube, Twitter X, TikTok, and Instagram as a property on you Google Search Console account.
Someone should tell #Google to also include she Open #SocialWeb like the ATmosphere and Fediverse networks.

#Google putting wrong medical advice in their #AI Overviews.
This is not funny. It is not acceptable. Today I saw someone who had asked a health-related question to Google Search. The AI Overview presented mixed-up, wrong information. I urged the person to ignore the AI Overview and use the regular site links.
They didn't know there were any regular site links, because the AI Overview filled essentially their entire window and they didn't know to scroll down. This is a common situation with busy, nontechie users.
They have depended on Google to point them at accurate information for so many years, and now Google Search spews out convincing looking AI garbage. This is not an anomaly.
Google's AI Overviews are full of wrong, partially wrong (even more dangerous!), and just plain misinformation. Answers that are completely reversed from supposed source pages because the AI didn't understand the wording. Measurements wrong. Math wrong.
It doesn't matter how often AI Overviews are correct, because you NEVER KNOW when they're going to be wrong, either completely or partly (again, mixing true with false -- like contaminating a well).
And now Google is trying to convince users to use "AI Search" instead -- "Hey Ma', no more list of blue links!" -- making it even harder to see that so many of their answers are, if you'll excuse the expression, bulls*it, sometimes dangerous as well.
This is unconscionable. Frankly, whether Google understands this or not, this behavior is uncaring and evil. Apparently Google's leadership no longer feels any shame at all. Disgusting.

BEWARE of Google AI generated video scams -- eight second segments can be a critical clue!
Fraudsters are now using the new advanced #Google #AI video system to create scam videos (including claiming to be from #YouTube) of humans speaking to camera. These are EXTREMELY convincing. One clue (for now) is that the created videos are often limited to eight second segments. To create longer scam videos, fraudsters are stringing together these segments of no more than eight seconds each, usually with a quick fade between them to mask the discontinuities between the segments.
Google is making life much easier for the fraudsters, but much worse for you.
