But we can all expect it to be a cumbersome and change-prone process filled with ridiculous amounts of frictions at every step - and I wouldn’t even expect such a morally bankrupt company to keep maintaining this “sideloading” option.
Google once competed with Apple for customers. But in a world where Google walks away from the biggest antitrust trial since 1998 with yet another slap on the wrist, competition is dead, and Google is taking notes from Apple about what they can legally get away with. And the EU, the biggest opposer of its anti-competitive acts, is also becoming softer with Big Tech - both because Vestager has left the job, and because being soft with trillion-dollar monopolist tech titans is seen as a sign of being “technologically competitive”.
Your best bet is to purchase a Pixel 9a now, before more manufacturers decide to block bootloaders, and immediately flash it with #GrapheneOS.
The long term plan would instead be to throw all of our efforts and energies on Linux phones. The folks at GrapheneOS are doing an amazing job and fighting against all kind of pressures, but at some point we should probably all just acknowledge that anything that is tainted with Android, or runs on a device intended only to run Android, is a liability, and we should no longer build solutions on top of hardware and software that we can no longer trust.
Sailfish, PostmarketOS, UBPorts, MeeGo or whatever comes next must succeed. No matter the cost.

以上原则均不强求。虽然讨厌谷歌，但如果折腾的程度影响到了生活，那还是以生活为重。
小插曲：
Fastmail 界面自带的 Gmail 集成获取 Gmail 邮件的延迟似乎不小，而且特别是带验证码的邮件。推荐重要的 Gmail 账户在导入了所有 Gmail 邮件后，取消集成，并直接在 Gmail 端设置转发到 Fastmail 邮箱 https://support.google.com/mail/answer/10957?hl=en

体验：
虽然网上也有公共的 Invidious 服务，但是为了自主可控，我选择了在自己的 NAS 上跑 Invidious。因为是自己跑，所以你需要一个 NAS 或者 VPS，以及一点 Linux 和命令行知识。另外，因为 Invidious 使用的是 YouTube 非官方的 API，有时候会被新的 YouTube 反爬措施封禁，所以你需要关注 Invidious 的 GitHub 动态并随时准备更新 Invidious 主程序或者配置（我用 RSS 订阅了 Invidious 和 invidious-companion 的所有代码更新）
在 NAS 上配置完 Invidious，可以用 Tailscale 把 Invidious 服务器暴露在个人内网中（Tailscale 是一个很方便组个人内网的工具，之后可以挑一期可以细讲 ww），这样我就能用 invidious.my-personal-domain.com 访问它了。我也尝试过用 Cloudflare Tunnel 把服务器直接暴露在公网上，但是视频串流似乎会卡顿甚至失败，不推荐尝试。
把所有系统中的原生 YouTube app 卸载掉后，我在 Firefox 和 Safari 上分别安装了 LibRedirect 和 Privacy Redirect 两个链接重定向插件。这样，在系统的无论哪个地方打开任何 YouTube 链接，系统都会直接跳转网页，并重定向到 invidious.my-personal-domain.com 上
相比于原版 YouTube，Invidious 的网页版相对比较简陋（也可以说简洁？），但是我需要的功能它基本有：移动端锁屏后台播放（虽然在移动端有点麻烦，需要锁屏之后从系统自带的媒体控制界面继续后台播放），历史记录，自建播放列表，倍速播放。目前发现的我自己比较缺的功能则有：记住正在播放的视频的播放位置，播放会员视频，离线下载播放。
至于 YouTube 频道订阅，虽然 Invidious 也有这个功能，但是我是用 RSS 订阅的，所以 Invidious 的类似功能不好评价
为什么不使用 NewPipe 之类的第三方 YouTube 播放器（这些播放器大部分是纯客户端扒取 YouTube 视频的）：据说未来 YouTube 会全面铺开一种新的串流视频标准，这个标准会使纯客户端扒取 YouTube 视频变得越来越难甚至不可能（具体在哪个 GitHub issue/wiki 上看到的忘了，有人需要的话我可以尝试翻出来 233）。所以，即使 Invidious 网页版的体验相对于第三方播放器差一点，我不想依仗于未来注定会失效的第三方播放器。

Apps refuse to work if the device is not seen as “certified” on the Play Store. Apps refuse to work if they are sideloaded. So that leaves you with a device that can run Android, but you can’t use apps that depend on Google Services. Things like push notifications, payments, banking, gone. GrapheneOS has called them out for this move. There is a way to manually add your device to Google Play devices and then you need to use Aurora Store instead of Play Store to install restricted apps. But for how long will this work?
