I think Phanpy probably has the best UX/UI when it comes to image posting, it's simple, everything is at your fingertips without having to click fifteen times everywhere.

I'm looking to change my Google authenticator app for a more privacy-oriented, reliable alternative. For iOS.

Haven't tried any so far, but I've read about Ente, Yubikey and 2FAS.

Do you have recommandations?

Bonfire has just released a new version, which includes initial support for Mastodon API endpoints (interested how this will work, as Bonfire has sooo many more post control options)

I have been looking for a new location for FediCon 2026.

The location we used for FediCon 2025 is very nice — but also very expensive. (I paid for it out of my own pocket.)

I am trying to find a new location that is either less expensive or, if possible, free.

I'd like to try to keep the ticket prices low. And, one of the biggest things that goes into the ticket price is the cost of the location

There is something incredibly freeing about being able to like a post on Pixelfed without fear of screwing up your algorithm. I find myself just liking cool photos way more frequently now.

A lot of new folks coming to the #fediverse and I need to update, so here's a new #introduction.

I work as a #video guy. An aspiring novelist looking to connect more with the #writingcommunity. My debut novel is with beta readers.

I'm a rare sports fan on #mastodon, cheering the #Packers, #DCU, #USMNT and #USWNT.

Other stuff you can expect: urbanism (#train and #bicycle in particular), #fitness (mostly weightlifting), #newmusic and #gaming (#tabletop and video).

I tend to follow back.

FediCon kicks off tomorrow in Vancouver 💫

And... our co-founder @michael is making the trip across the Atlantic to be there - that's over 7,460 km!

We wouldn't make these trips if we didn't believe in the Open Social Web and how it can be used to better the world.

In particular, Michael is looking forward to meeting all the amazing faces we speak to regularly online in person.

I'd like to take 2 seconds this morning and thank all the #commons janitors who do the ungrateful and unseen work of trying to increase #fedi's #cohesion and #culture.

Been diagnosed w/ PNEUMONIA and Home Recovery + Breathing Monitoring is the doctor’s advice. I thought it's just flu + Asthma acting up. My lungs disagreed & escalated the situation.

For the new kids joining Mastodon, let me share a common mistake I see with new users:

"Mastodon sucks. There is no timeline. It's like a tiny echo chamber here"

What's the mistake you ask? They invariably only follow a few dozen people.

This is what you need to understand about federated platforms like Mastodon: the server only pulls in data from people you follow! So, go out and follow some more people already.

You can also follow hashtags btw. This is great for getting more posts in your feed on subjects that interest you. Go and use hashtags in your own posts too of course.

Starting to feel like this 2025 Influx of users is much larger than 2022 Influx of users. New users come in huge waves. Many of them also seem to genuinely like Mastodon according to the feedback. In 2022 many tried, soon gave up and left to Bluesky or back to X. Today, many have even deleted their commercial accounts and settled here.

I like this new development of things. Seeing new faces and more cat photos bring me so much joy. Thanks for being here. Remember that you matter.

I like the idea of #Surf (the app, not the sport)

Unfortunately, all the feeds are very US-centric right now with no way to mute what I don't care about. So I guess I'll go back to try it when it has more functionalities, in priority the "I don't care about that feed, never show it to me again, please" button.
