3 wks ago an incredible surgical team removed his left tonsil, its 2 cm tumour, and 4 malignant lymph nodes the size of kiwi fruit
2 days ago we had our first consult with oncology, and based on the margins + histopathology there’s a small but real chance at definitive treatment. so we’re going to fight

Summer mentioned that she was feeling svelte this morning. She is right.
Since her annual visit to the vet we have been trying to help her drop five pounds.
The doctor says she will be healthier and more comfortable at her ideal weight. Less treats and more exercise is the only way it seems.
Today was weigh in day and and she is two pounds lighter.
Being a dog mom is just like being a mom, mom.

I told Summer that our chore list is long today. I knew that if I was going to squeeze in time to protest we were going to have to get creative.
So we decided to make an early run to the beach before coffee or breakfast.
She promised to stay out of the salt water so we could get by with an easy clean up. The bay side was foggy, so we veered left instead of right, which felt better anyway, and headed to the ocean.
She ran for an hour before we hurried home to cook and clean.
Summer is a happy dog on this perfectly beautiful morning.

I'm feeling better. No more headache.
Summer knows I'm feeling perkier so she is ready to play.
It was grocery shopping morning but I found time for my favorite dog.
This afternoon I will be back to phone banking.
Will be starting on the 350 Prop 50 postcards when they arrive tomorrow. I told the grandkids that I would bake cookies if they would come out for a postcard party.
Toasty warm day here on the north coast of California. Summer says this is not fur coat weather.
Good thing she can stay in the shade. I added a few ice cubes to her water bowls.

This dog couldn’t lift her head just two days ago. So thankful to the amazing vets at SF AMC. Dr Winnie Ybarra is such an exceptional vet. She called us twice a day to update us clearly about Cookie’s status, and her idea that if surgery is off the table we could try to manage her and keep her comfortable seems to have worked
She’s eating, and seems alert, as of today :)
since this picture was taken a few hours ago, Odin has karate-kicked me in the face while I was grooming him, drooled all over my notebook while I was writing in it, pulled me off a bench because I was taking too long to check my phone during walkies, and dunked his face in water and then wiped it on my bed. I love my dog
I saw my friend King sleeping in front of the ATM machines at 7-11 yesterday. I've been feeding this dog for many years. He used to live around the housing complex down the street from me but he migrated down to the 7-11 next to a small restaurant. Whenever I see him outside, I get him a snack.
