This dog couldn’t lift her head just two days ago. So thankful to the amazing vets at SF AMC. Dr Winnie Ybarra is such an exceptional vet. She called us twice a day to update us clearly about Cookie’s status, and her idea that if surgery is off the table we could try to manage her and keep her comfortable seems to have worked

She’s eating, and seems alert, as of today :)

since this picture was taken a few hours ago, Odin has karate-kicked me in the face while I was grooming him, drooled all over my notebook while I was writing in it, pulled me off a bench because I was taking too long to check my phone during walkies, and dunked his face in water and then wiped it on my bed. I love my dog

I saw my friend King sleeping in front of the ATM machines at 7-11 yesterday. I've been feeding this dog for many years. He used to live around the housing complex down the street from me but he migrated down to the 7-11 next to a small restaurant. Whenever I see him outside, I get him a snack. A black Pom with a grey muzzle and somewhat scraggly coat. The wise sage of the pack, 18 year old Baby Bear has mastered the art of the good boy.

Lacy, my lovely lady, is a large blonde chunk of muscle. She has shorter fur than the others, and looks more like the original Spitz, the earliest Poms that some Queen fell in love with. I say this means she is my primal Pom, and she seems to believe it means she is a warrior.

Romeo is what happens when you cross an elephant with a soot sprite, he is a huge black fluffy nugget with a pinstripe of white encircling his nose, and little eyes that say, "Turn around for just a second so I can escape faster than you can blink, and you get to run around the neighborhood asking where Romeo art, we love that game, don't we?"

The whole pack, minus parts of a face or a body or two. Romeo is in the front because that is what he does, and in the back we get a glimpse of a smaller but fuzzier puff of black and white. It is the Pom Bowie, and he has a black mask because he is a superhero. He must be, he flies around like a comet, and is doing so as I type these words.

I was telling my wife, imagine life from cookie’s perspective: strangers tell her she’s cute and they love her every five minutes, internet fans root for her, the streets of the world are filled with delicious edible food, even when it’s trash.

like the very high Californian woman once told me when I was walking her: ‘this dog like, totally looks like she has NO TRAUMAAAAAA’

Benny Beagle got his first ever taste of oyster sauce after dinner in the form of some sauce from tonight’s stewed eggplant. I’m pretty sure he’s decided it’s the most delicious thing of all time. Alas, he’s now heartbroken that I told him that was all he gets tonight.

I'm in tears you guys. MY FARKING VET had this made after I let them know that the oncology vet had to put Rhys to sleep.

My regular vet called and I told her the news, then she asked me for photos of him. I had no idea why, just thought she wanted to see him being a happy dog! While we were in Michigan I got a phone call, telling me they have a gift for us.

They had this waiting at the desk for me. I cannot believe this.
