🎉 Happy 20th Birthday Django 🎉
I first heard about Django 18 years ago when I made a phone call to a prospective client and now I have a business built around finding companies the best Django talent.
Along the way I have seen first hand just how much this amazing framework shapes lives and careers.
I've shared some of my thoughts and experiences with Django in a blog post: https://foxleytalent.com/blog/django-turns-20/
Meet our June Django Member of the Month, Elena Williams! 🌟 https://www.djangoproject.com/weblog/2025/jun/17/dsf-member-of-the-month-elena-williams/ @elena is part of our Code of Conduct team and a dedicated #Django & #Python community builder, involved with PyLadies, @pyconau, and @djangogirls 🩷
If you use #Django REST Framework, have a look at my recent https://github.com/loopwerk/drf-action-serializers package. I’m really proud of it, and I love it quite a lot.
We have an ops project that is winding down so for the first time in awhile we have some availability for a new client. Reach out soon as this will get filled up quickly! #python #django #kubernetes

OK, #django friends...
I thought the practice of loading fixtures as data migrations was quite commonplace, but I can't seem to find any credible guide / documentation on doing it easily, except for an app by Alex Hays for Django 1.7.
Any pointers?
Never thought I'd be writing official docs for a major open source project begging LLMs to stop fabricating surreal vulnerabilities.
Is this the future??? 😱
Hasta la vista, baby.

Happy birthday @django!
Back at my first university, I had to make a choice between #Django and Rails, and I never regretted my decision to have chosen the former! This decision follows me to this day, now that I work with Django professionally and very much enjoy doing so :)
A good reason for me (and you!) to donate to DSF to keep the framework afloat 💚
🎉 @django turns 20 this year!

Final preparations for #EuroPython! This is the last batch of 800 stickers for the conference, with lots of special ones for Django’s 20th birthday! Will be there for the whole conference, with a Django booth (thank you @europython), and sprints on the weekend! There may be a birthday cake too 🎂🤫
Wrapping a #Django project in an electron app and shipping it to windows / macOS running a full data science stack (>1gb .venv) using a bundled relocatable Python interpreter with django-tasks for long running simulations and htmx to be able to show interactive progress. Still baffled that this works at all.

Like so many others, my life has been so much richer for having found #Django early on.
I started using it because I wanted to build tools for teachers and students, without having to spend all my time focusing on technical aspects of 2000s-era web app infrastructure. Django let me focus on the tools I was building, not the infrastructure itself.
Ten years later I finally went to a DjangoCon, and started meeting lifelong friends. Thank you to everyone that's helped it reach 20 years!
I started using #Django in 2007, before the version 1.0.
It was #Python 2.7.
I think SQLite was not yet part of the standard library.
My first real Django project started four years later, in 2011.
I contributed to it for about six years.
It’s still in use at @radiohelsinki
Five years ago I started contributing to a project that has evolved from it.
I have attended a couple of Django conferences in Europe and even had the opportunity to give a remote presentation at DjangoCon Europe and US two years ago.
I have always loved the people and the community around this wonderful project.
Another cool #Django package that was just announced: django-smart-ratelimit
