Another Boston Marathon Midnight ride in the book!!
Ptown - PB ride
PB’s location is so perfect that it’s about 25 miles from Ptown on a bike ride with plenty of hills and amazing ocean views, and provides great energy supply for cyclists (aka coffee and delicious French pastry) so we can ride back to Ptown without bonking 🤣 Beaches are literally a few pedals away.
After a bit over 1000 ft ascending you’ll probably feel a bit tired and the fatigue in legs are getting you and boom a great French bakery is right in front of you. What more can you ask for? 😋
I’ve done this route so many times and still want to do it over and over again. Hardly any automobiles on the back roads in Truro and Wellfleet. And plenty of friendly attention on commercial st in Ptown 🤣

Beautiful day for a ride.
Legs feel really good. Training in the winter paid off. Best 1 mins power output at 408 watt. Made a lot of PRs on the route that I’ve done so many times.
Now keep doing that power for 1 hour I’ll be a pro LOL #ICanDream

Barcelona Collserola loop cycling
Really nice mountain route. Some steep climbs. Cloudy so I wasn’t getting torched by the sun.
Stopped by a little restaurant for a coffee in the mountain outskirts of Barcelona.
Somehow they figured out how to pave roads smooth and not have potholes all over the place. Somehow they figured out how to design bike lanes properly in the dense urban area so people on bikes are comfortable. Somehow they figured out how to make roundabouts / rotaries (as referred to by massholes) not so scary…
The biggest pothole I ran into is smaller than my fist and I only saw three of them on this whole 40 miles route.

New PR today during a sprint training session on power output from max to about 15 seconds sustained. Max at 876 watt now
Also hit heart rate of 184. Could hardly breath fast enough to catch up with air afterwards 😂😂😂
Though I’ve come back to Boston…… still need to post these photos from Mallorca, Spain!!!
Mallorca is the cycling mecca and it lives up to its fame. The beach right out of the old town Palma…… the world famous hairpin climbs of Coll de Sóller…. And the view of the rustic coastline with quint Spanish villages in between…
I’m so happy I chose to do this on my vacation. Also grateful for the support from my partner that he could entertain himself while I was out cycling and enjoying what I loved to do.

Mt Wachusett on a hot day. Left Bolton around 8am. Made it to the top around 9:40am. And we decided that was not enough climb for the day, so we made the summit loop 3x 🤣 which increased about 900 feet elevation gain for the ride.
Got a flat with 0.3 miles to go at Bolton. I continued riding the flat and changed the tube when I got home. And I tried using CO2 cartridge for the first time! Gotta practice!
Stopped at Nan’s kitchen in Stow for lunch. Got a delicious Salmon bowl!

South shore (Scituate) loop from Dorchester via Milton.
Stopped at Scituate harbor for coffee and a muffin. The coffee shop doesn’t make espresso??? Only drip coffee 🥹
Btw I might have peed in the woods in Wompatuck State Park. The mosquitoes definitely smelt their meat I’d say. 🦟
Overall great ride. Left early in the morning at 7am when there wasn’t too much traffic. It was cloudy and misty, especially near the coast, but it was nice and cool. I’d take that 100% over the 90+ heat wave 😂. The route is relatively flat - 2000 feet ascend over 58 miles. So I did a lot of sprinting - sprint Saturday it is…

104 miles ride from Newburyport MA to Portland ME
Lunch at Ogunquit. A cute little town, maybe 1/5 of size of Provincetown ;)
Stopped at Nubble light house. Old Orchard Beach is like a theme park for heterosexual people, which I think ruins the beautiful coastline and beach. The bathroom there is interesting though.
My first century (imperial) in 2024
My body hurts everywhere 😅
Cafe ride from Upton MA to Slaterville RI… it was delicious avocado toast! Perfect weather today. I probably overdressed a bit, but I took off the cap and gloves on the way back, and the breeze felt so good.
One hour ago: ready for some training ride!
Now: this training session tried to kill me!
Getting my bike ready for tomorrow's outdoor ride - temperature is gonna be 50s which is absolutely amazing for New England. And I'm excited to finally ride outside!
And there're so many things to charge before a bike ride now - my bike computer, batteries for front / rear derailleurs, tail light and radar, heart rate monitor...
New kit from The Heavy Pedal!
The jersey is the special one for LA fire. It looks awesome! The bib is a tiny little tight, but I'll be more aero I'm sure ;)
Needed to make a quick charging stop in Eastham because I forgot to charge to 100% before leaving for Provincetown, and the extra drag from the bike rack made the efficiency worse. Obviously the bike design is not optimized for the aerodynamic when it's sideways 😜
I could charge near Ptown long enough so I can make it home, but 1) Ptown's DC charger is a Tesla supercharger, as much as I don't want give money to Musk, it is also not 800V output, meaning the Taycan only takes around 140-150kw, which is not so much different from the 120kw I can get from this ChargePoint. 2) as I don't drive much, I need to take advantage of the Electrify America free charging when I have the opportunity.
So a quick 9 mins charge from 11% to 22% and we got on the way to the Electrify America in Hyannis. Arrived with 13% SoC and got the free juice to 85%.

Such a beautiful day ❤️

Folks, something to remember about me:
The biggest ego boost is asking me if I am riding an electric bike or I'm just really strong, while you're on an electric bike riding along.
I think it's the sourdough toast I had in the morning.
71 miles ride today. Beautiful weather, a bit chilly in the morning, but it was great because we didn't plan any water or food stop until 48 miles. If it were hotter, I'd run out of water way before that.
Sterling is cute for the little lamb statue, they say:
Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
This ride is kinda easy for me because when I ride at zone 2, I need to wait for my cycling buddy all the time. Well zone 2 ride still has its benefits.

100+km (65 miles) ride today. A ton of cyclists! Beautiful weather! But I did get sunburn a little and felt overheated for the last 15 miles or so.
Also a very hard ride! Averaged 18.4mph with almost 3000 ft elevation gain. Two guys are very speedy and strong but thankfully I was able to keep up most of the time. We swung by Rhode Island too :)
Another day climbing up Blue Hills (actually yesterday)! It's the only hill that is reasonably steep and long enough to get some workout in. The Strava segment is 0.83 miles with 416ft elevation gain, average 9.4% grade. Only ~8 mins of suffering.
Guys it's finally here!! I'm so excited!! Gonna take them and the bike to Landry's the first thing in the morning tomorrow!! What a beauty!
Finally! I visited the elbow of Cape Cod - Chatham!
My first ever 100+ miles solo ride. Mark Pasnik (a new friend I made this weekend!) sent me off at Ptown, and took a lovely photo of me on my bike.
I did ride with two guys - Allen and Jesse from Truro till Wellfleet. It was great while it lasted. Jesse was fast and strong, while Allen pointed out turns and gravel sections. It was a breeze following Jesse's wheel. While we were talking, a stupid squirrel ran across the road, barely missed by front wheel, and got caught between Jess's wheels. Luckily Jesse didn't crash, and we made some jokes out of it. When it was my turn to pull, Jesse was on my wheel, but Allen fell behind. So Jesse stopped in Wellfleet center to wait for him, and I went on my way.
I felt great and strong at mile 24 where PB Boulangerie is, so I decided to just have a gel instead of stopping for coffee / pastry. CCRT was a nice and easy way to cover some distance. I reached the tiny bike path roundabout in no time, and started heading to Chatham. I did feel a bit fatigue going into Chatham center, as there're more hills. But the beautiful Chatham Light and Coast Guard station made up for it. I had half a bar and went my way to my first stop at mile 52 - Three Fins coffee roasters.
It is a new shop and the sitting area is originally a pool. The coffee was great, but the chocolate croissant was disappointing. It was very dry and a little chewy. I didn't finish it, instead I ate the rest of the bar and went on my way, figuring I'd stop by PB Boulangerie on the way back.
Some new pavement in Chatham / Brewster was amazing to ride on. So smooth!
Pretty uneventful all the way to Wellfleet. I saw a cyclist on CCRT with the exact same bike as me - even the same color! I said hi and quickly passed him. I wanted to cover easy distance as quickly as I could. I stayed on the drop as much as I could to save some watts.
