Just a note saying how my #Fediverse experience has been made immeasurably richer for being able to take in & engage w/ carefully curated #Threads users, #BlueSky bridged users, #WordPress ActivityPub enabled blogs, #Flipboard Federated accounts, bridged #Podcast episodes, #PixelFed photos, & Peertube videos. All from one Mastodon account.

I'm grateful for the moderation tools to mute, block and curate all of this, and the Mastodon lists to make them all digestable and not just info overload.

Well hello #mastodon. I deactivated my #bluesky account b/c of reply guy sea lioning and antagonism toward Black women experts there. Very bummed about it b/c I invested a lot in growing my followers there, made some great connections, and believe it’s exponentially better than the site formally known as #Twitter. I might go back, I don’t know but the #moderation tools weren’t addressing my needs. Guess I’ll try again to learn this place 👋🏽

Mas é a grande próxima atração da versão 4.6 dele, a ser lançada em algum momento no início do próximo ano.

Já falei que o fediverso é feito de pessoas para pessoas, e sendo assim é importante incluir todo mundo.

Por isso é esperado e muito bem-visto quando você tira um tempinho pra descrever as imagens, vídeos e áudios que publica.

Muita gente não impulsiona (dá boost) em publicações com mídias não-descritas.

Se não sabe por onde começar, trago um norte: comece por aqui para saber como descrever por conta própria:

Também existe um bot que pode te auxiliar: siga @altbot. Sempre que você postar mídias sem descrição, o bot vai responder com uma.

Edite o post com a imagem, adicione nela a descrição gerada pelo bot (botão ALT) e faça os ajustes necessários. Daí é só salvar e publicar.

PS.: em algumas instâncias é obrigatório descrever imagens. Veja as regras da sua comunidade.

I'm on fedi & promote it cause it has the potential to fix the control over cultural attention by the wealthy and govts via mass media as documented by Chomsky. Based on what #bluesky did last week and still refuses to acknowledge, it's obvious they don't share my goals. The "we're totally decentralized, bro!" social media platform #BlueSky is down at the moment. Which wouldn't happen if it was actually decentralized. So I'm posting about it on the #Fediverse

Love a fresh cup of hot irony in the morning.

Mastodon, honestly, haven't changed much since I joined. It has its own community, and I do realize now that it's impossible for Mastodon to become a Twitter-like community and post Twitter-like posts.

I know, most of you will say: "Of course, because Twitter sucks and you better not post anything like you would on X!", yet my point is, is that Mastodon's posts will never become like posts from other popular platforms.

Mastodon community has nothing to fear for. They don't have to fear that Mastodon is going to die, or that Mastodon will no longer be Mastodon.

Mastodon, to me, feels more like old Facebook + old Twitter combination. Yeah, the old ones that I knew.

Imagine if all your friends were sharing their honest thoughts, sharing their pictures. That's literally my feed on here.

I can't say that Mastodon is a bad place to exist, because I don't think it is. But honestly, Mastodon *fails* as a Twitter alternative, because........it's not meant to be an alternative to Twitter.

Yes, I know what you will say. But, still, Mastodon is better to be recommended as a somewhat alternative to Facebook, rather then as alternative to Twitter.

I just feel like as if Facebook users had moved to Mastodon, you know? That type of vibe Mastodon gives me, when I scroll my feed on here.

It's no wonder Bluesky is becoming the number #1 best alternative to Twitter, *because it was created with mind to be an alternative to Twitter*. No wonder people are saying that Bluesky LOOKS and FEELS like twitter.

See? See where am I going with that?

But Mastodon? But what about Mastodon?

Mastodon = is an old, good Facebook that Facebook used to be. Mastodon doesn't gives me vibes or a feel that I use Twitter......unless I use former Twitter app that is now remade to be for Mastodon (like @MonaApp / @ivory ) app. Yes, using an app like that does gives me Twitter vibes - just sharing that personally at least what I feel like.

BUT, even then, Mastodon still feels like Facebook. I'm sorry, but that's the way things are. At least on my side and the feed that I have.

Mastodon has its own ecosystem. Mastodon has its own world.

And that world is DIFFERENT then old Twitter's or Bluesky's.

Bluesky did managed to recreate Twitter's world perfectly which I miss.

Congrats to Bluesky and I'm sorry for your loss, Mastodon - for loss in being a good competetitor to Twitter. There are still small chances for Mastodon to win, though, BUT ONLY if people are going to use Mastodon through apps for Mastodon that will give them old Twitter vibes. For Apple users, I think it's Mona and Ivory. Just because these apps used to be Twitter apps before.

Mastodon has else issues though, I must say. It's about blocking domains/defederating from some Fediverse instances.

You see, I've been watching for an year and a half and still, how do people on here are abusing defederation. A good example of it is mastodon.art .

I've also seen other people promoting to block that or that Mastodon server/Mastodon user, just because they don't agree with what that user/Mastodon server's community says/its opinions.

Honestly, personally, I dislike such approach. If you want to defederate, just defederate from a user/Mastodon server that is a spam, or a scam, or violates any normal human being's rules taht are accepted widely and globally everywhere. But don't abuse that tool, please!

As for now, I am mainly active on Bluesky - https://expertplus.creator.blue , if anyone wants to follow meover there or as @expertplus.creator.blue (make sure to follow @bsky.brid.gy so that you and I would be to interact with each other), because that's where most of my Twitter followings are, and that's where I have a good amount of audience (252 followers), although I must say, on Mastodon I have the best engagement, while on Bluesky, uh, I mainly have zero engagement, feels like nobody sees my posts when I post there.

I'm not leaving Mastodon, of course no, but I've sen some people I know, who were wondering about me being inactive on Mastodon, so that's why did I wrote this whole thing.
