One thing about service disruptions on a decentralized network is that you get to find out how decentralized the network actually is, and how various claims of independence line up with reality.
mcc @mcc, who really knows her stuff, and has taken this opportunity to take a hard look at what happens to 'independent' services, including #Blacksky, when #Bluesky has issues.

12 hours later I tried requesting for a 2FA disable email code and #Bluesky is still not sending any emails. Now counting 36 hours.I can receive emails just fine as shown in the screenshot. In addition, it also shows Bluesky did not send any email because it would've appeared in the logs.HELP!

I refused to join Bluesky and Threads because unlike Mastodon, they are operated by for-profit entities.
Bluesky was founded by Jack Dorsey, who co-founded Twitter and advocated for Muskrat to buy it.
Threads is a Meta company.
No. Way. In. Hell. was I signing up.
I've never regretted joining Mastodon in the years since I left Twitter.
I've had more meaningful engagement here than I ever did after spending over 12 years on the bird site.
#BlueSky isn't decentralised or federated. The outage yesterday is the obvious proof. It may *look* decentralised and they definitely love to outsource traffic and storage costs by claiming that running your own PDS (Personal Data Server) is somehow something federated, but that's all smoke and mirrors. You have to go deep on [1] to find "networking through Relays instead of server-to-server" as their current implementation choice. THEY run the relays. No one else.

Hi @rocksky.app@bsky.brid.gy , is there an option to login with an App Password? I need to refresh my session so I can scrobble but #Bluesky stilu hasn't fix the issue about them not sending 2FA emails to me, almost 10 days now. 😭 My only option is to use an app password.
