Someone who I love very much has recently come out as trans and chosen the name Violet. And now I'm extra delighted when I see the volunteer violets scattered throughout my yard.

These have been around for weeks in our yard, I love them so much. Whenever I leave or come back to the house I throw a little mental hello at them and thank them for being there.

Small purpley-pink (or pinky-purple) flowers, each one has several leaf-shaped petals that fold up together to the sky, like each bud is just several petals standing together in sweetness. They're delicate but hardy, they've been here since the start of September.

Oxeye daisy. The geometric fractal pattern in its center is like my mammillaria cactus.

Two oxeye daisies, one larger and closer to the camera, the other smaller and in the background. They each have a yellow center with little buds forming concentric intersecting arcs that spiral out from the center. This is surrounded by flat long white petals all around, each petal about as long as the diameter of the yellow part.

Looking straight down at a mammillaria cactus. Like the daisy, it has concentric intersecting spirals radiating out from the center, of deep green flesh with clusters of bright white spikes.
