The top of a dried-up thistle plant bursts open like a punky firework, its head exploding in a burst of colour and energy.

The central part of the flower is a papery, spiky orb in shades of tan and light brown, from which long, sharp, needle-like petals radiate outwards. These petals blend faded greens, purples and blues, some with a metallic sheen.

I set up a gaggle of robots at https://digest.xvello.net that each boost one post at random every hour. This allows me to get a taste of these tags without overwhelming my timeline.

Our #clematis vines are really taking off and starting to bloom. I planted them last year but they were very much underachievers, maybe because of our long hot summer, and after our one hard freeze this winter I thought they might be dead, but definitely not. This variety is called John Paul II 🤷‍♂️.
