If "AI in the browser" was of any true value to users, it would be shipped as an extension. Maybe a paid extension.
Then the market could decide its value.
Forcing it into the browser without consent is an admission that it does not provide users with value and could not survive without a heavy thumb on the scales.

The thing to keep in mind about Large Language Models (LLMs, what people refer to as AI, currently) is even though human knowledge in the form of language is fed into them for their training, they are only storing statistical models of language, not the actual human knowledge. Their responses are constructed from statistical analysis of context of prior language used.
Any appearance of knowledge is pure coincidence. Even on the most “advanced” models.
Language is how we convey knowledge, not the knowledge itself. This is why a language model can never actually know anything.
And this is why they’re so easy to manipulate into conveying objectively false information, in some cases, maliciously so. ChatGPT and all the other big vendors do manipulate their models, and yes, in part, with malice.

Apple is temporarily disabling its AI-generated news notifications, which were frequently error-filled, misleading or totally false @CNN reports. Alerts included fake stories that Luigi Mangione, who is charged with murdering the UnitedHealthcare CEO, had shot himself, and that Benjamin Netanyahu had been arrested.
I guess this article (https://www.answer.ai/posts/2025-01-08-devin.html) is much more detailed & comprehensive than my comment (https://mastodon.social/@cheeaun/113701846716481265). They went *full-autonomous* on creating projects from scratch, research tasks, & doing code maintenance work.

The "the" in post-menopausal and the phrase "post-menopausal" make my blood pressure rise every time I hear this baleful phrase of #JDVance (I do wonder what his mother-in-law thinks, a successful scientist and administrator at #UCSD), but/and this meme is so good: "The whole purpose of the post-menopausal woman is to prevent the rise of generative AI."
