It has been know for a long time that, when it comes to AI training, quality is much more important than quantity. Yet Big Tech goes for quantity because it is cheaper and takes less time to train a model on non-curated garbage scrapped from the internet than taking the time and the (human) effort of curating the data. That is one of the problems with their models: Garbage in, garbage out.

Today, we signed an Administrative Arrangement with Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information to begin cooperation between the 🇪🇺 AI Office and the 🇸🇬 AI Safety Institute.
We agreed to focus on the safety of general-purpose AI models, such as chatbots, by developing tools and benchmarks and carrying out standardisation activities, among others.

不排除我太久没看行业新闻，但 “#AI #同声传译”和“同”“声”都没什么关系
首先，同声传译之所以叫“同”声传译，是因为译员要边听边译。一句话说完了译员一口气翻出来，那叫 #交替传译，所以 AI 等你说完再译的话，就不是同声传译。你说一个词 AI 就蹦一个词，那更和翻译没什么关系。只有你边说 AI 边译出语序正确、语义完整的句子，才能叫 AI 同声传译
其次，“AI 同声传译”本质应该还是 1）音频转文本 → 2）文本 #机翻 → 3）朗读音频，而不是像真口译员一样把音频翻成音频。甚至口译员的入门训练都是把后两步合起来的（看着稿子口译，叫“视译”）
当然，叫什么对用户来说区别不大，而且笔译本质比口译精准，三步走比真· AI 同声传译和真· AI 交替传译还靠谱，但大可不必把这当成什么黑科技
