Up at just after 06:30 but that was ok because I fell asleep before 10pm last night so a more or less solid 8 hours.

Mrs S was in the office to a nice quiet day once I had done my chores!
I officially finished NMS exp 22 & got all the goodies I wanted to take back to my main save - & a trendy new multi-tool to boot!

Chicken kievs & salad for tea with strawberries for dessert - yum!

Final Thoughts.

A much needed quiet day to start to de-stress & relax, there will be a repeat performance tomorrow!

Sunday started at around 07:30.

Had a busy morning at my late MiL’s collecting the final bits & bobs.

Got back for a late lunch & then a binge fest of ‘The Capture’ season 2.

Final Thoughts.

Tomorrow will see us at the end of clearing out my late MiL’s house - it’s been an excruciatingly log road but the end is now clearly in sight!

The #actuallyAutistic anxiety of

a) Being misunderstood
b) In attempting to explain the misunderstanding, having that be misunderstood
c) Being so entangled in "No, that's not what I was trying to say either" layers that the original communication is completely lost
d) Walking away wishing you just hadn't bothered in the first place

The majority thinks that people are generally the same, except for some individual differences, of course it’s more complicated than that, there seems to be a majority who are generally the same, but they’re one type, humanity is divided into neurotypes, there are other types that are mostly the same among themselves, so that’s a third layer of complexity, and still there are individual differences both within types and also individual differences that transcend types.
.
It’s another layer of complexity but it’s a better theory, explains more than the other one.
.
That’s why I’m all in on neurodiversity theory, if it explains more, I don’t see that ignoring it is an option.

Wow, I hadn't checked my Mastodon notifications in two months. (In case you wondered how long my #ActuallyAutistic burnout lasted.)

I want to aplogize to my NT wife and kids for spending my time talking about, trying to live according to principles they can never understand.
.
It’s still impossible to wrap your head around, I suppose the same way they never understand us. My kid is mad at me for judging them about something, and they think it was what the bad guys judge for, gender, sexuality, but it was this, wasn’t it, that I, never having heard of neurotype, was judging them every time I talked about No Spanking and expecting them to understand that.
.
They’re convinced my lifelong obsession about it is some kind of a lie, because No Spanking just isn’t a thing, does not compute. I never spanked them, I tried to stop the ex from spanking them, so I SAID, “No Spanking,” and I never spanked - my words and my real history are one - still somehow a lie, and that just means it simply does not compute for them, they don’t, they can’t get it.

It’s an actuarial matter, they simply cannot see the causality.
.
I’m sorry, in hindsight, knowing what I know now about neurodiversity, now I guess I can sort of understand y’all’s reaction to me. Knowing what I do now, I wouldn’t ever try again. For all of our sakes, I wish had known what I was, failing that, I wish I had never met your mother.

Another quiet day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire, the calm before the heatwave that is set to engulf us over the next week or so!

I think I say this a lot but I am just so incredibly burnt about all the years I wasted listening to my NT siblings parroting their #NTPsychology at me, shaking their heads at me like I’m the one not getting it.

I was born knowing that and they weren’t and can never learn it, they know nothing, but they’re going to teach what they do not understand to the person who wrote the book. NT psych is business psych, army psych. It is not humanist or medical, it’s only there to keep you going to work.
.
They spent the greater half of all of our lives telling me something is wrong and guessing about my possible early abuse, they listened to me tell them I had taken the whole idea further and refused to dish out even “normal,” levels of abuse, that I forsook and banned punishment, period - and when my bubble popped, I found out they hadn’t heard or believed any of it, and assumed I had been rough on the kids, despite everything I ever said or did: they couldn’t hear, “no punishment.”

It’s not a thing. The NT have no brain path, no neuroreceptors for the negation of punishment. There are probably more aspects to the actuarial function, but that’s part of it and they don’t have it.
.
What of my life they didn’t wasting talking their psychobabble, I wasted trying to tell them not to hurt people and expect things to improve because of it. THAT’s what I understand to be the core idea of lower case “p” psychology.
.
I didn’t learn/figure out until my sixties that there are different brain types and that they don’t all have all the features, and then I finally saw that they just can’t get it.
.
And yes, I pathologize. It’s a problem.

Thursday started early because my brain hates me!

Did some prep work for the shelf that is going over the window in my room at some point soon, but lack of parts (6 x 1½ screws to be precise) stopped play so I have ordered some & play will resume when they arrive.

My ADHD side was dominant today so I flitted between minor tasks for much of the day but managed to get some time on the PS5 too.

Nuked lasagne for tea - Mrs S wanted it so who am I to argue!

Arranged to go out for lunch with my Dad later this month for his birthday.

Final Thoughts.

Hot as heck today i’m gradually melting away!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 994 , Saturday 18/07/2026

Saturday started late - I mean 8am late! I had a late night last night & just slept thru!

It’s been another quiet day a few small chores done & then I made the mistake of trying to turn back on some of the macbook’s protection features - BAD idea!

So will have to go thru the whole DFU restore process again, (reinstall the firmware) & then reinstall Macos then put linux back on. Apple do NOT like you trying to put anything other than their OS on their boxes!

So lesson learned, hopefully 3rd time will be the charm!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, I have been surprisingly sanguine over the setback with the MacBook, perhaps it is because I (mostly) understand it, with stuff like the blinds last week where I did not fully understand what was going on & did not feel in control it gets far more stressful!

A message for my fellow neurodivergents:

The latest update for my current special interest project, the Techne System for Foundational Skills, has just been put online. The topic is Psychology (Intermediate level). I bring this to your attention not just for its own sake, but because it includes an introduction to Neurodiversity, autism, ADHD and other neurotypes.

Now I'm sure many if not most of you already know all the stuff in this mere introductory overview, but I would very happy to hear your feedback on it. Is it accurate? Is it easily understood? Is there anything I should add, or leave out? The point of the program is that there is only so good one person can make it, so it's intended to improve through community feedback. For context this is aimed at a general audience.

And for everyone else that isn't as familiar with the material, I'd like your feedback too, and hopefully you'll learn something useful.

And this is only one subject out of 5 in the Psychology topic, not counting the Bare Essentials material. Or the other 22 topics in the program, in case you want to poke around. It's all free with no sign ups, subscriptions, or even tracking or cookies.

that Sapolsky rant the other day, been thinking about how it played out, and that’s how I work, I hear something, some #Psychology or some science and at first I think it’s totally intuitive, I’ll have a question, Is this right? or I’ll make the leap, This isn’t right! and then I’ll start talking to myself, talk my way through it - and like in this case, often stumble upon my own point in it all almost by accident.
.
I was all day on that, finally coming around to that: this premise is the opposite of everything else they say about people and maybe the opposite of nearly every human child’s experience. My intuition leading me to some truth I wasn’t seeing either, sort of. Or I think it’s “just intuition,” but really it’s just knowledge?
