弓削斋宫（小野友树 配音）是一个各方面都十分平凡的男子高中生，虽然嘴巴很毒，但内心里其实充满了正义感。一次偶然之中，他穿越来到了名为古兰巴尼亚的异世界之中，在这里，人类遭到了污秽的侵蚀，想要净化污秽，只有依靠十二星座的巫女。当然，只有巫女还不够，真正能够驱逐污秽的，其实是“稀人”和巫女们所生下的孩子“星之子”，而弓削斋宫恰好就是稀人。
成熟稳重拥有读心术的露卡（大本真基子 配音）、有着不为人知的一面的亚莉（远藤绫 配音）、任性而又自负的千金大小姐菲米露娜（藤田咲 配音），在这些巫女们的围绕下，弓削斋宫会做出怎样的选择呢？

随同去年9月底《超时空要塞F》最终回放送结束之际，TV动画片尾便登布了剧场版制作的消息，广大死忠为之虎躯一震，翘首以待。在2009年1月发售的Macross系列作品的综合杂志《Macross Ace》Vol.001当中，些许剧场版情报流出，其中在河森正治总监督＆菅野洋子特别会谈中，两位业内人士对将在2009年上映的《超时空要塞MF》剧场版进行了将近3小时的对话，从中我们得知了剧场版将计划让库兰往爱情方面发展，补足TV中的遗憾，原本在TV中河森神棍的许多建议未被采纳的建议今回将在剧场版中表现出来，而剧中也许会对TV系列进行回顾，引用河森的说法便是为了能让初次接触MF的人对该作有个大概的了解，所以在角色的立场上会有所变动，而至于库兰是否顶替双歌姬的位置菅野洋子回答有机会的话会尝试。
在忙碌于剧场版制作将近半年的时间内，6月份发售的《Macross Ace》Vol.002终于闪亮登场，同时还带来了两则关于剧场版的消息。其一为剧场版《超时空要塞F》将于11月21日正式上映，加入了冬季剧场放映档期。其二为剧场版《超时空要塞F》标题正式定为“虚空歌姫”，而杂志图中绿坝娘兰华李惊现真实二字，腹黑状态的雪露女王只搭配了嘘字，难不成在剧场版中将要揭示绿坝娘才是阿尔特的最终翅膀么！？那么之前《Macross Ace》Vol.001中透露的库兰为主角又是怎么回事！？河森神棍你必须给我们一个交代啊！河森你有什么不开心的事？说出来让大家开心一下，请不要黑雪露好吗？

OVA將以《TSUBASA-RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE- TOKYO REVELATIONS》為名，採非賣品方式作為漫畫單行本第21～23卷的初回限定版贈品，全三卷分別命名為《魔術師の伝言》、《少年の右目》、《姫君の視た夢》。
此外，該OVA將由CLAMP的大川緋芭親自撰寫腳本，並由曾製作劇場版的Production I.G繼續擔綱，監督多田俊介，人設菊地洋子，CAST不變。
