Despite being a brief 64 minutes, it still feels like this could have been cut another 20 minutes, and the promised "robot"-(more like a cyborg)-on-mummy action was only a few minutes at the very end.

Narco Shark (2024) IMDb
Narco Shark
director: Gerardo Preciado actor: Ricky Valente / Tico Suave
In 1989, mexican direct to video superstar Ricky Valente was in line to write and direct NARCO SHARK, a wild and ambitious film about a Detective/Saxophonist who battles the Mexican Yakuza and a cocaine fueled Killer Shark while trying to save his marriage from falling apart and helping his awkwardly shy but sexually depraved brother in law learn some breakdancing moves. Sadly, the film was never made… until now.
July 21, 2025 stopped watching I love the posters for Narco Shark and sequel Narco Sharks and it sounds good on paper. But I hate the actual film. It's like an experimental student film. A bad, dull one. With almost zero shark or narco action! (I'm sure there's some ironic justification for that.) I fell asleep in the middle, and restarted it the next day but just couldn't be arsed to finish it.

My rating for this is 0 stars. Zilch, nothing, nada. Not sure if NeoDB understands that, or just thinks I forgot to rate it.

Burt Reynolds is his usual charming self, perhaps a little more abrasive than in most films, and convincing as a dirtbag with a vestigial conscience.

With a slow pace and very little shark action, this is more of a noir thriller. And even as a noir thriller, it ain't great. Who knows if it would have been any better in Fuller's (apparently lost) edit?
