My shed isn’t just a home for Northern Watersnakes, Eastern Phoebes, and Terror Birds ™

Eleven days ago I discovered a Monarch chrysalis up under the far corner of the shed awning. It was inches from last year’s chrysalis!

Yesterday was the emergence! Travel well, my little friend.

Its wings are the classic Monarch colors but are lighter in color and wrinkly. It’ll need to spend some time drying them out before it can take its first flight. About an inch from where it hangs is last year’s chrysalis.

I’m going in!

I have Northern Watersnake friends that live on, and in, my stacked firewood. We’re neighbors you could say.

But now we have a contractor who is building a new awning and I need to temporarily relocate some of the wood. I’m going to have to squeeze my way in there.

Of course the snakes will think this is hilarious.
