Introduction
Today, the Old Continent is home to towns and cities. Built through the labor and sacrifice of generations, they provide comfort and protection to thousands of humans and monster girls. Paradoxically, wars are waged over possession of these jewels, which are not without their own impurities. In rural areas, where nature and civilization blend to sustain these nations, people still face head-on the ancient challenges posed by the wild world.
The New World has brought many men back to the age-old struggle against the unknown. Dominated by new flora, fauna, and landscapes, this untamed environment has reintroduced human beings to the ancient struggle for survival.
Spring and summer caress living beings with light and warmth, but they are followed by fall and winter. In this season, an ancient curse—forgotten by those who live in the comfort of civilization—lurks. It embodies humanity’s ancient terrors: hunger; cold; loneliness… The dark and indifferent weather stifles the bonds of the spirit, leaving them alone with life’s hardships. The souls who surrendered to despair and violated the highest precepts now lurk hidden in the frozen woods, yearning for the warmth, love, and blood of the humanity to which they once belonged.
History
The long, dark months are a time of trial for all living things. The heat and sunlight abandon the earth, leaving cold, ice, and snow to reign. Plants lose their green, and winged creatures migrate to more welcoming lands. For those who remain, the struggle for survival becomes even greater.
For the humans who came seeking a home in this corner of the world, it is no different. Crops and pastures do not grow. Hunting and fishing become scarce and difficult, and people must compete for them with wild beasts and hungry monsters. The warmth of a home, a blanket, and a fire is comforting, but both the flame and the body need sustenance. And hunger is a raw, primitive, vital urge. It takes knowledge and strength to build, hunt, and plant during the warm months and to endure the harsh ones.
Among the malevolent spirits, one lurks the winter months. It seeks out those who, ravaged by the cold and, particularly, by hunger, fall into despair. Those who inflicted suffering and death upon others through theft, fraud, betrayal, and murder to satisfy their greed and gluttony—and particularly those who violated the taboo against cannibalism—would find themselves possessed by this spirit, which would nurture the transformation of these sinners into creatures of the same name: wendigo. Doomed to isolation caused by their voracity and shame, the only satisfaction left to them was to live like beasts, devouring their prey and postponing the hour of their death with each new hunt.
As in the rest of the world, monster girls roam the continent in search of human men, and they’ve really taken a liking to the influx of males who’ve immigrated here. However, they share the same wild spirit as the land itself and don’t usually think twice about taking what they want by force or seduction, even if it means stealing from another woman—especially if she’s a human foreigner. Another battlefront has opened up. Women from pioneering human settlements, native tribes, and monster girls—whether in packs or alone—fight for mates with the same ferocity with which other wars are waged.
