Trump describes these white descendants of Dutch settler-colonisers as "victims of unjust racial discrimination".
South Africans are joking about this as the "Great Tsek", which refers to:
1. The "Great Trek" — the 1800s migration of Dutch settlers into South Africa's interior, &
2. The word "tsek" - roughly meaning "f*ck off.”

Over 100 years ago, El Paso became the first city in the USA to ban marijuana. Now, #Texas is renewing its commitment to tradition with a bill that will destroy 10,000s of jobs if it goes into effect, fully banning all products with THC despite years of normalization of their usage in our state.

Other than the pure racism, the point of immigrant crackdowns (and Congress blocking immigration reform since Reagan) is to maintain a large highly exploitable labor force.
That's why ICE is hitting up day laborers at Home Depot parking lots and small Los Angeles businesses, and not, for example, shutting down the entire US meat and dairy industries which have relied on that exploitable labor for decades.

Much as I'm enjoying the Schadenfreude of the Trump/Musk feud along with everyone else, I'm also starting to think the degree we focus on things like this is part of the problem. Politics is not supposed to be just about celebrity personalities. It's supposed to be about policies and representing all the people. We can't get better if we keep getting high off the dopamine supply of news like this. We have to choose to pay attention differently.
