🧵 I signed up to phonebank for the Harris campaign this afternoon. I've done some door to door canvassing (back when I was young/healthy) but I've never made phone calls.
Luckily, I don't have social anxiety. I do have some cognitive issues - hope they don't get in the way.
I'm sharing my experience here in case it motivates others to volunteer. I plan to add to this thread sporadically today and tomorrow.

I just finished my Saturday shift, volunteering for the Democrats and #KamalaHarris, calling swing state voters.
In a few hours, I was able to win over a new swing state voter for Harris, and help several Harris-leaning voters figure out how to vote early.
My favorite call was with a disengaged left-of-center Bernie voter in North Carolina.
When I asked about his top issues, he said "free healthcare, free wifi, freedom to grow marijuana". So I responded…

I somehow got on some right-wing SMS spam list, and have been getting comically desperate pleas for fundraising multiple times per day.
…for Trump, until maybe a week ago, when they pivoted hard to raising money for Ted Cruz.
Poll results can be mirages, but I don’t think this is Indivisible just whipping things up. Somebody in the right-wing machine really did suddenly get worried about Ted Cruz.
