I learned in fedi-posts/toots that yesterday/today [timezone crap] is apparently the annual Trans Day of Remembrance. I didn't know that, i didn't know there was such a thing [maybe it's a Merkan thing?]. Other times i read that it's annual Pride Day again, but similarly [though in this case yes i have heard of it] i never know it's coming, til i begin reading of it again. I live under my rock, keeping myself alone at home, participating in no LGBTQI community of any kind, not being activist in any way, just trying to be motivated enough to bother getting outta bed each morning. I wonder if more trans peeps are public & active, or solitary & inactive like me. I admire those with the courage, determination, fortitude, & self-confidence. I know how to spell those words, but that's all. Onya, fellow trans peeps. 🤗 💜

Also out today, over @TexasObserver: I collaborated with GLAAD's ALERT Desk, which tracks anti-LGBTQIA+ hate incidents again, looking back at the year 2024 in #Texas. Gender policing, attacks on trans folks, bathroom gender laws, do NOT protect cis women. They are sexist & fascistic, and they actually worsen the oppression of all women, including both cis and trans women, as seen by the recent harassment of a cis lesbian couple at a Boston hotel, the attacks on Algerian boxing gold medalist Imane Khelif, and the cis woman arrested for using a Walmart bathroom in Arizona.

Bathrooms. Medical care. Sports. The definition of "male" & "female." In state legislatures this spring, #Republicans have kept a focus on transgender people. They have filed hundreds of restrictive bills.
The majority don't pass, like the majority of all bills. But dozens have, acc/to groups tracking anti-#trans bills. And, even when they don't pass, they can force votes to drive debate.

A reminder to all the TERFs and transphobic queers out there that the first Pride was a riot, literally. And it was led by transwomen and drag queens, including Marsha P. Johnson, as well as lesbians, who refused to submit to police bodily searches during a raid on the Stonewall Inn night club, and who fought back during the cops' attempts to mass arrest patrons and community members.
