Do you all know why I have “t4t” carved into my collarbone? It’s an ethos and a promise.
In Torrey Peters’ “Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones,” a gang of trans girls forms in a post-war dystopia. They have t4t stick and poke tattoos and one gal explains the meaning, “We aim high, trying to love each other and then we take what we can get. We settle for looking out for each other. And even if we don’t all love each other, we mostly respect each other.”
I promise to always try love trans people, but when I fail, I will try to look out for us and respect you all as best as I damn well can. I’ll fuck up, we all will. But like family love, I can be pissed as fuck at you and still love you deeper than the ocean. And I will always keep trying to act from my love for us rather than any momentary wave of emotion.
