Summer and I took a day off today.
We didn't do all of the things that would normally get done.
We chilled.
My back needed some serious rest as did the rest of my body. I particularly needed to stop thinking about what is going wrong leaving no room to think about what is going right.
I think our family found our maximum capacity for worrying and feeling powerless.
Today was reboot day.
All three of us are starting to relax a little.
Summer and I did manage to watch the sun set together.
We know we are like tiny drops in an ocean of people and that can make us feel insignificant. It shouldn't.
Sometimes we need to stop and breathe.

Today was a good day.
Summer thinks so too.
She is way excited about chicken and kibble for dinner, so I'm glad we got her out for a good walk to boost her appetite.
Hanging out with her on the deck while we watched the storm clouds turn into a colorful sunset is comforting.
She is a gentle and loving companion.
Sometimes I feel guilty for relishing these snippets of happiness with my family but then Summer reminds me to simply enjoy the moment.
Summer is a pretty smart girl.

I am so thankful to share the end of everyday with Summer who only knows how to be positive and loving.
It helps me to absorb her good vibes.
Even on those days when it appears our country is falling apart.
Bad news seems to be all of the news.
These late in the day moments keep me going.
Right when we were giving up on seeing a spectacular sky it turned orange as far as we could see up and down the coast. It was too big for me to photograph.
We were surrounded with color and it was magical.
Summer said this sky was worth the wait.
I said yes.
