Caito Bros
This is a capture of a working fishing boat docked in Noyo Harbor in Ft Bragg California. Ft Brag is roughly 3-1/2 hours north of San Francisco and may as well be in another world. This is an area that started out as a lumber town, the town was owned basically by the lumber company. Once most of the redwoods in the area were cut down the area morphed into a fishing village.

Caito Bros

A small working boat sits quietly in the harbor, its presence as sturdy and unpretentious as the coastal town it serves. The hull is painted in bold, weathered colors—reds, blues, and whites that have softened under years of salt, sun, and hard labor. You can almost feel the rough texture of the paint, chipped in places where ropes have rubbed and waves have slapped.

The name “Caito Bros” curves across the cabin in crisp lettering, standing out against the boat’s lived‑in surfaces. Metal railings catch the light with a muted gleam, dulled by sea air.

You can almost smell the brine, the diesel, the faint sweetness of drying nets.

The whole scene feels grounded and honest—no glamour, no polish—just the quiet dignity of a vessel built for work, resting between journeys in a rugged corner of the California coast.

The Point Reyes Beached

The Pt Reyes has been one of my favorite photographic subjects ever since I discovered washed up on the shore of Tomales Bay many years ago.
I drove out to her a couple of weeks ago as there was talk of having her removed as she has now become a safety hazard.
