Yesterday I gave our neighbors some scones. They came to the fence to thank me when Summer was doing her perimeter check this morning.
It seems they had made a toy for Summer from an empty plastic container. They put a rock inside to make noise. I didn't have the heart to turn them down.
Summer was thrilled.
She chased it all over the yard and had so much fun. When she was totally exhausted I added the container to our recycle bin.
It doesn't take much to make Summer happy.
I am glad the neighbor's like her so much, and that they ask before they give her anything.

Spring and autumn are unpredictable and capricious -- you never know if the day will be warm or cold, calm or blowsy.

It was a good morning here in our neck of the woods.
We hopped up early, and headed out for a walk, in the fog. I told Summer running through the fog would be just like getting a facial with fancy moisturizer. I'm not sure she bought my rationale but she was enthusiasticly on board.
We set a timer so we didn't over exert.
It worked out perfectly with regular rest stops. We had the trail to ourselves.
Summer asked if it is OK to be happy with so much bad stuff happening. I told her that I wonder sometimes, too. I said that the people that feed on other people's misery will get nothing from us today.

Summer is preparing to meet her newest groomer this morning. Her long time groomer graduated from CalPoly Humboldt and moved two states away to start a new job. Crushed but happy for Jonah Summer is adjusting. Last month the owner of the mobile grooming company came to groom her and evaluate who would be the best match for her going forward. This morning we meet that person.
Jonah always said Summer was one of his favorite dogs. Hopefully the new groomer loves her too.
In the meantime she will meditate and think calm thoughts. It's possible she is just taking a nap but either way I hope all goes well because she deserves a caring and gentle person to spiff her up.

For anyone who likes happy dogs. I happen to have gone on an early morning walk with one this morning.
I took pictures.
We were out the door very early.
We made it all the way to the ocean for the first time since I was sick.
My husband decided to stay home and enjoy some hot chocolate and solitude.
Summer was the best good girl for our whole walk. She lifts my spirits and brings joy to my heart.

Summer and I have been chatting while we spend all of our time together today.
We wish we could give everyone who yearns for different leadership in America a great big hug and assure them that there are multitudes of us that feel the same way.
We think if all of the like minded linked arms we would reach around the world and back to our little northern California hillside.
That's what we think.
Not that we know for sure but we are pretty sure.
Summer knows a lot of things.
