"Because of this difference, Fascism will never succeed as completely as Russian Bolshevism in freeing itself from the power of liberal ideas. Only under the fresh impression of the murders and atrocities perpetrated by the supporters of the Soviets were Germans and Italians able to block out the remembrance of the traditional restraints of justice and morality and find the impulse to bloody counteraction. The deeds of the Fascists and of other parties corresponding to them were emotional reflex actions evoked by indignation at the deeds of the Bolsheviks and Communists." — Ludwig von Mises, Liberalism (1927).

"Whatever our view of its utility or its practicability, it must be admitted that the idea of Socialism is at once grandiose and simple. Even its most determined opponents will not be able to deny it a detailed examination. We may say, in fact, that it is one of the most ambitious creations of the human spirit. The attempt to erect society on a new basis while breaking with all traditional forms of social organization, to conceive a new world plan and foresee the form which all human affairs must assume in the future — this is so magnificent, so daring, that it has rightly aroused the greatest admiration. If we wish to save the world from barbarism we have to conquer Socialism, but we cannot thrust it carelessly aside."

Why Americans Hate the Democratic Party https://jacobin.com/2025/10/democratic-party-polling-rust-belt/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon #socialism
Over 40 years, we were collectively told to give tax cuts to rich people.
And we were told that if we did that, wealth would trickle down and everyone would be better off.
Over 40 years, pretty much everything got cut to fund these tax cuts.
Schools. Hospitals. Public housing. Public transport. Universities. Roads projects. Mental health services. Welfare payments.
People literally went homeless or starved, so rich people could get tax cuts.
Because the wealth would trickle down.
Eventually the eroding of public goods caused social dislocation.
So governments further cut those public goods to fund more police and prisons. To continue giving tax cuts to rich people.
But they said the wealth would trickle down.
Eventually the climate started changing because of the amount of toxic fossil fuel pollution in the atmosphere.
So governments chose to keep the tax cuts rather than fund infrastructure to reduce emissions.
(Many of those billionaires getting tax cuts made their money selling toxic fossil fuels.)
And as the oceans and atmosphere warmed, the bushfires, droughts, hurricanes, cyclones, floods, and droughts got worse.
But they said the wealth would trickle down.
Eventually people were getting pissed off at the dire state of the world.
The rich misdirected that anger at immigrants!
And First Nations!
And trans people!
And neurodivergent people!
Anyone but the billionaires who got the tax cuts.
So governments chose to keep the tax cuts. (For the rich. Everyone else got new tariff taxes.)
But they said the wealth would trickle down.
So did the wealth trickle down?
Well...
A group of billionaires saw this kinda cool tech demo.
It predicted the next pixel of an image, based on the colour patterns of every image on the internet.
It also predicted the next word in a sentence, based on an analysis of every piece of writing on the internet.
The rich decided that this clearly showed that a sentient computer was just around the corner.
The problem was these tech demos needed servers with a lot of GPUs to work.
So the rich took all the money they got from those tax cuts.
And they bought GPUs.
Millions and millions and millions and millions of GPUs.
All the tax cuts? All the underfunded schools? All the draconian welfare cuts? All the public housing shortages? The delays in funding clean energy.
In the end, it didn't trickle down.
And instead of all the public goods it could have bought...
...We'll be left with millions and millions and millions of GPUs in a landfill.

Today in Labor History November 9, 1918: Striking workers stormed the City Palace and the Rote Burg or "red fortress" in Berlin, freeing over 600 prisoners and declaring the buildings to be property of the people. Later that day, Karl Liebknecht, of the Spartacus League, stood on a truck and declared a Free Socialist Republic. This came on the heels of a General Strike, called the night before by the Revolutionary Stewards (union members who had opposed Germany’s participation in World War One), in which thousands of workers took to the streets, many of them armed. The soldiers and police who had been sent to suppress them, instead threw down their weapons and joined the revolution.
The revolution had begun in October, 1918 with the sailors’ mutiny in Kiel. Within a week, workers' and soldiers' councils controlled both the government and military institutions throughout the country. A Republic was declared on November 9, 1918. On November 10, workers formed the Council of the People’s Deputies, led by the two main socialist parties: the Social Democrats and the Independent Social Democrats. The Council promised to implement an eight-hour work day and to give women the vote. The left-wing factions of the revolution, like the Spartacists, also wanted to nationalize key industries, democratize the military, and replace the parliamentary government with one run by Workers’ Councils.
On January 1, 1919, Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg founded the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). Discontent over the direction the Social Democrats were going led many other leftist groups to join the KPD. In early January, they attempted to overthrow the Social Democrats in the Spartacist Uprising. The Social Democrats called on the Freikorps, a paramilitary composed of World War One veterans, many of whom were suffering from PTSD, who ultimately quashed the uprising. 200 people died in the fighting. The Freikorps then murdered Luxemburg and Liebknecht in an extrajudicial execution. Members of the Freikorps later supported the Nazis rise to power. Many of them went on to join the SS.

Mao Zedong planted the seeds of people's power, while Chiang Kai-shek* pruned the old dying branches of bourgeois and reactionary nationalism.
*Chiang Kai-shek (1887–1975) was the leader of the Republic of China from 1928 until 1949 and then as the leader of the government in Taiwan until his death. He was the head of the Kuomintang (KMT), or the Nationalist Party, which was opposed to the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Lenin and the Bolsheviks envisioned a new world based on principles of justice, equality, and unity. They imagined a society where all work together for collective benefit, free from class divisions that perpetuate global strife.
Today we are told that we cannot conceive a new form of society, only superficial modifications to our current system. But what sort of life is it without aspirations for a better future? Do we simply renounce dreaming forevermore?
Every time I criticize Republicans, they call me liberal. Criticize Democrats, they call me MAGA. Politics isn’t red vs blue, it’s class. Both parties lie about immigration, wages, healthcare, and culture wars to keep us divided while the billionaires get richer. “Socialist” and “communist” are demonized so you never question the system. This isn’t a Democrat vs Republican fight. It’s a class struggle, and that’s why I’m a socialist. #socialism #uspol

Dialectical Materialism provides a rigorous toolkit for analyzing dynamic systems. It teaches us to understand how the evolution of material conditions drives historical change.
I wrote a guide where I attempt to demystify the concepts of base & superstructure, the transformation of quantity into quality, and the negation of the negation, and how these ideas provide us with mental models to navigate a world in constant flux.

1. Reality is the only morality. I reject all symbolism and emotion.
2. I know good people from every religion, tribe, race, culture, ethnicity, and social class. To protect each group, ethno-nationalism is required.
3. All of our environmental problems can be cured through Half Earth.
4. Natural Rights > (human | civil rights).
5. Eugenics is necessary to ensure genetic health.
6. People need some positive transcendent goal or they are merely reacting to fears and appetites.

Regardless, yes, jobs do need to come back to America, but not in the chaotic, unpredictable, idiotic and expensive way Trump plans on doing it. If you’re a disenfranchised Democrat (or Republican) who now believes the two-party system just doesn’t work, or that capitalism doesn’t work, join us at the Party for Socialism and Liberation, together, we can bring about a TRUE Liberation Day, the liberation against our capitalist oppressors. #Democrats #LiberationDay #Socialism #Trump #tarrifs

Marxism Summarized Part 1 of 3
Ever since the dissolution of primitive society, the history of humanity has consisted of class struggles between ruling classes and oppressed classes, and the ideas and systems of social organization have been a direct result of these class struggles.
Capitalism is just paywalls stacked on paywalls. Pay to eat. Pay to sleep. Pay to drink. Pay to breathe. Miss a payment? Game over.
Capitalism isn’t an economy, it’s a hostage situation.
