A striking black and white photograph of a beautiful and haunting 3-story mural on the side of a building. The mural centers around a large black dot that gives off the impression of being a celestial figure near the top, and all these angel or bird-like flourishes circling around floating upward and inward toward the dot. The background of the mural is deep black, but all the white swirling figures turn the background into a light color to that next to the dot the background it pure white. Big ‘eclipse’ vibes going on here. But I’ve also always thought of souls gently drifting to heaven as well. The image seems so peaceful and ethereal. The architecture surrounding the mural wall is very geometric and angular, and it helps draw the eye into the art. The glass windows on an adjacent building reflect the floating mural figures and when you look closely at the bottom of the mural you can see tiny No Parking signs to ground the image back to reality and give it a place in time.

Down low to the water, a 30 foot wide brook is making its way toward the camera. The water is a cobalt blue and only about a foot deep. There are lots of dark rocks scattered throughout the brook. Tall, thin evergreens line each bank and there is a spot where the sun is shining through.

Sunset over Compton Bay on the Isle of Wight. Steely grey waves roll into shore, a chalk headland leading from the right into just beyond the centre of the photo. The sky is a mixture of blue, grey, orange and yellow. The sun is about to reach the horizon and disappear for the day. It's not a calm scene as the tide is a little choppy, but it's a relaxing view.

Photograph taken out the window at the San Francisco International Airport through a large circular amber lens art piece which distorts the center of our view and colors it a gorgeous yellowy orange. Outside the window and through the lens we see normal goings-on for an airport tarmac: planes loading people at gates, miscellaneous vehicles driving around with baggage and supplies for other flights, and lots of open space painted with white directional lines. The art is framed in sturdy geometric metal and glass materials, inside the tall steel frames of the huge terminal bay windows, which adds to the geometry of the square photo—everything is framed perfectly to be contained within the shapes except for a single rogue white tarmac line, which extends outside the frame in the lower right. This was a fun image to happen upon, and looking at it brings me peace and calmness.

For #silentsunday Winter window views.

Photographers will understand:

You get SO EXITED about a cool thing, you WILL hang out of windows / contort at weird angles *trying* to get the perfect shot.

MUCH much later:

1: Slowly realise how bloody freezing you are (in pyjamas/ forgot a coat)

2. How much your back now hurts :(

I think that's so important, not kit or ability level. The fun part. The silly part.

A small wooded stream is running down a slope. The water is clear and only a few inches deep. There are ferns, moss and lots of brown fallen leaves on either side. There are several places where the water makes small waterfalls. Medium sized evergreens are in the background, several of them slanted toward the rushing water.
