A photo I took using expired film that developed with a greenish tinge. In the very center is a deer in the distance looking towards the camera. It's standing right where a path betweeen everygreens opens up just enough to see small bit of what lies down the path. In the foreground are low grasses and earth.

A vivid energetic motion-blur photo with a bunch of light-trails and orange bokeh circles on a dark background. This was my attempt at taking a photo of the moon with my iPhone on night-mode while in the car. (Don’t worry… I was stopped on a street with no moving cars, bicycles, or people around.) You can still see the brilliant quarter-moon a little left of center, with the brighter thick light trail. In the photo we also see some distorted cars on either side of the road and light trails from house lights and streetlights and some beautiful eerie glows reflecting off the windshield glass. I love the drunken carnival vibe this one is putting out there—like a very fun party that you’ll definitely have a hangover from tomorrow.

A color film photo almost entirely showing the surface of a pond. Along the edges of the frame, the trees along the opposite bank and the branches and grasses stretching out from the land can be seen encroaching. But mostly the focus is on the mirror reflection of the tree tops encircling the pond and the darkened bluish sky that is striped with gossamer, wispy white clouds.

This is a photo of a very interesting and mildly sketchy-looking pedestrian walkway crossing over a very wide freeway taken at dusk on a cold evening with very dramatic lighting and some overhead lights. The concrete footpath has two layers of railings on either side. The first (and likely original) is a standard iron railing about shoulder-height. The second outer layer is a chain link wrapping that curls up and over the first railing and continues up and over head to almost meet in the center—leaving a small 9 inch gap along the center. (Visually this looks so striking along with the repeating posts from each protective barrier going off into the distance.) Some enterprising graffiti artist has tagged the walking path immediately in front of us in an artful cursive scribble that adds to the vanishing point. There are a few lights on posts suspended high over the bridge, which intersect with the different elements as well, adding to the geometry. Through the chain link we see many levels of freeway lanes with cars traveling both directions and rows of San Franciscan homes on a hill in the distance under a cloudless pale-blue-to-white gradient sky. Finally, the whole scene is framed in a dark border with film negative markings.

In the foreground (and taking up much of the frame) we see a steep lush green grassy hillside with a single tree on top and a meandering path around the side that leads out eyes directly to the background. In the distance we see a giant radio tower atop a larger mountainside filled with lots and lots of houses, all bright and bathed in sunlight. The glowing sun is shining from out behind the green grassy hill accentuating the separation between the two geographies. The brilliant blue sky above further enhances the separation of spaces. This was taken on Bernal Hill, in San Francisco, facing west towards Twin Peaks and Sutro tower. A very peaceful, inviting scene that beckons the viewer to enter and explore.

a small, beige motth with extended wings lies atop ice in an backyard pool. their wings are dotted with raindrops. algae and rotted leaves make the ice appear emerald green and black with uncountable tiny bubbles.

Note: I took this picture in the early afternoon. the day was sunny and windy, and the moth was not there when I returned in late afternoon to photograph it in different light. I'd like to believe the moth flew away.
