1.-Because pockets are not a natural right.
2.-Because the great majority of women do not want pockets. If they did, they would have them.
3.-Because whenever women have had pockets they have not used them.
4.-Because women are expected to carry enough things as it is without the additional burden of pockets.
5.-Because it would make dissension between husband and wife as to whose pockets were to be filled.
6.-Because it would destroy man’s chivalry toward woman if he did not have to carry all her things in his pockets.
7.-Because men are men and women are women. We must not fly in the face of nature.
8.-Because pockets have been used by men to carey tobacco, pipes, whiskey flasks, chewing gum and compromising letters. We see no reason to suppose that women would use them more wisely.

Finally finished this jacket. I was gifted a bunch of upholstery fabric, much of it in smaller pieces, and have been challenging myself to find ways to use it. The jacket is lined and has five pockets in total.

#WeekendSewingClub holiday special… this is the face of a woman thinking “fuck you I won”.

I jettisoned the coat I started last week (energy too scarce to waste on a project that doesn’t excite me), and redirected attention to the water-resistant, bonded houndstooth wool, but with a ‘simple’ cape pattern (new look, N6768).

It was like sewing a tarpaulin. Should have been doable in two days, but took 5. My hands are TRASHED. I love the result. #sewing #tailoring #iMadeItMyself #ItHasPockets

Vier Quietschvergnügt Taschen genäht. Dieser Schnitt hat es mir sehr angetan. In die Taschen passt unheimlich viel rein. Die Innentaschen habe ich alle aus weißen Bettlaken genäht, Außenstoffe: ein Ikea-Kopfkissen, Küchenhandtücher und geschenktem Stoff.

Auf einem Laminatboden liegen nebeneinander vier längs-gefaltete Taschen in folgenden Farben: rosa mit kleinen weißen Punkten und pinke Tragegurte, lila mit großem weißem Muster und graue Gurte, blau-gelb-lila gesprenkelt mit Muster und blauen Gurten, große halbierte und ganze Zitronen auf weißem Grund und grünem Stoff, Gurte aus gleichem Stoff.

I am not doing good at time management or indeed any approximation of knowing what day it is, but today was the last day to drop off art for the Somerville Open Studios and I managed to get this done just in time. Despite 1) running out of black thread (howwwww) and 2) goofing up the insignia the first time. Still. She looks good.

I probably did not need to agonize as much as I did over whether it’s the right shade of teal/blue but who am I even if I can’t overthink things.

This is very bad news for anyone who sews. The parent company who owned the big 4 sewing pattern brands (Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls, Vogue) has sold them to a liquidator. Meaning that the business will get wound down and dissolved.
I own a number of these patterns and like them (much more than Burda), I can't believe this is happening.

I must admit I bought mainly Lekala patterns, others like indi patterns. Meaning that the Big 4 are no longer profitable?

My friend in Norway just came home with this lovely old girl, wow. 💜 When I asked her if she’d mind me sharing the photo here, she said no, go ahead, this beauty should be shared. What a find! I see them around sometimes but never in this good a shape.

Cycling friends will also be pleased to know she hauled this heavy thing home on her cargo bike. :)

Update: she paid only 500 kroner - ~$50!!

Habe vor einiger Zeit wieder mal die Quietschvergnügt-Tasche genäht. In die Taschen passt so viel rein und sie sind sehr einfach zu nähen. Ich kann damit nicht aufhören. Sind auch schon wieder verschenkt.
