My friend found this and posted it elsesocial so I'm posting it here because it is glorious.

Today I was one of many who helped save two trucks of "we don't know how many" coming from a warehouse full of textiles that was going to be dumped. It was mostly lingerie fabric and trims, all perfectly good and usable. This is why I volunteer at the Lair! So much good shit is sent to landfill and we see .000000001% of it! If that!
I'm not mad at the people clearing the warehouse - it's a sad backstory and it must happen all the time. This is why community is vital, we need to link up and distribute resources that would otherwise be sent to the tip. With these resources we can share low cost and free items that help people make stuff they don't have to buy. We can take down capitalism... Well... A little bit of it.
This free dress pattern hugs your figure without any closure! The secret is a shirred panel in the back.
You can customize the sleeve and dress length and even enter your own measurements to get your very own pattern!

Landscape in a match box.
Maybe not a very exciting scene, but the place means something to me. And now I can take it anywhere! 😊
Want to learn how to sew? Gathered magazine has put together a complete guide, including essential and nice-to-have supplies, patterns for beginners (we like the look of the DIY bookends and the duffle bag) and skills such as how to sew a button and basic embroidery.
Hey, I'm Lexi and this is an #intro post!
I'm leaning into wholesome living; #HomeCooking , #sewing , #making and #mending things, #composting and learning to #GrowYourOwn.
I'm rediscovering my love for #StarTrek and starting #gaming (#StardewValley style).
I'm wild about unicorns and love pink. Like, a lot. It's also unlikely you'll see me in anything but dungarees.
I'm late realised #ActuallyAutistic on the waiting list for a full assessment.
This video has been a long time coming! Lots of work continually sidelined by my health issues…
I would appreciate it *very much* if you would watch it, share it, and leave a comment on #YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2auonh2xbTg
I have more videos coming, but it would be nice to get some feedback before I start editing the next ones. #sewing @sewing
Finally finished this jacket. I was gifted a bunch of upholstery fabric, much of it in smaller pieces, and have been challenging myself to find ways to use it. The jacket is lined and has five pockets in total.
I spent a bit of time today recovering from the weekend and clearing out my mending pile. This bag from Market Basket had some places where the panels were pulling apart from each other and the binding was falling off. I pulled off the crummy binding and replaced it with some nylon webbing, and ta-da, bag is useful again.
From a purely capitalist perspective, this is a terrible use of time, right? I could just buy a new bag from MB for, like, what, $5? $10? And I could have used that time in Economically Productive Pursuits to Increase The GDP, and someone in an exploited country could have made another one and shipped it across the ocean, and in a couple years that binding would rip and I’d buy a new one and we’d just keep doing that dance until the heat death of the universe.
Or I could spend the time and effort to keep it out of a landfill for a little longer. So I did. And it’s a small thing but it’s better than nothing. Bonus: bag is now significantly gayer.
We can fix things if we take the time.

#WeekendSewingClub holiday special… this is the face of a woman thinking “fuck you I won”.
I jettisoned the coat I started last week (energy too scarce to waste on a project that doesn’t excite me), and redirected attention to the water-resistant, bonded houndstooth wool, but with a ‘simple’ cape pattern (new look, N6768).
It was like sewing a tarpaulin. Should have been doable in two days, but took 5. My hands are TRASHED. I love the result. #sewing #tailoring #iMadeItMyself #ItHasPockets

She’s done, Jim.
I lost the light before I finished her up but I’ll see if I can get to the library in the next couple days to get some better photos.
Tentatively dipping my toes in the Fediverse, so here's my #introduction post!
Hey everyone! I'm Alice, developer by day and #multicrafter the rest of the time. My main interest is #crochet though sometimes I play with my #sewing machine too, and one of my goals for this year is to get into #knitting as well. I'm also going back to #writing again after years of avoiding it or, well, I'm trying to. I enjoy playing #videogames in what remains of my free time, last one I played is #baldursgate3 and I might start another campaign soon™️.
Gonna share a couple of crochet projects I'm particularly proud of. See you around the garden!
Look at this brand spanking new beauty!
Over the past year, I have finished many machine sewing projects and my old sewing machine was no longer sufficient.
Coinciding with my wish for a new machine was the fact I was lucky to celebrate a "big" birthday with friends and family. They helped me enormously to reach my sewing machine savings goal, and today I visited my local sewing machine expert store to buy this new beauty.
First project? A small shopping bag, great to use as a cover for various gifts for friends and family!

I am not doing good at time management or indeed any approximation of knowing what day it is, but today was the last day to drop off art for the Somerville Open Studios and I managed to get this done just in time. Despite 1) running out of black thread (howwwww) and 2) goofing up the insignia the first time. Still. She looks good.
I probably did not need to agonize as much as I did over whether it’s the right shade of teal/blue but who am I even if I can’t overthink things.
Hey, crafty people! I almost forgot about Me Made May. I'm wearing one of my many Persephone dresses, by Made For Mermaids.

This is very bad news for anyone who sews. The parent company who owned the big 4 sewing pattern brands (Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls, Vogue) has sold them to a liquidator. Meaning that the business will get wound down and dissolved.
I own a number of these patterns and like them (much more than Burda), I can't believe this is happening.
I must admit I bought mainly Lekala patterns, others like indi patterns. Meaning that the Big 4 are no longer profitable?
