Bib picked up for Sunday’s Tokyo Marathon. Going for star No. 5 of the World Marathon Majors. My goal is 6, not adding ones that became Majors since I began my quest.

Meine zweiten 45K lief ich wieder auf einem 3K Rundkurs am Adenauer Weiher.
Ziel war es diesmal am Anfang so zu laufen, dass ich am Ende nicht einbreche.
Das war nämlich bei meinen ersten 45K vor 5 Wochen ein Problem 😬
Fazit: Ziel erreicht 👍🙂
Jetzt beginnt eine kurze Tapering-Phase für den Drachenlauf nächste Woche Sonntag 🤗

Gelesen / Read: Scott Jurek—Eat & Run: Pretty solid book. Good recipes, nice anecdotes and a ton of examples of what I would probably not do, like running with broken bones and stuff. Nevertheless, it felt quite relatable. I liked it.
Nationaal Park Marathon Hoge Kempen 2026 was a blast. Perfect weather and such an amazing course. Most of the ~360m altitude gain over 21km happens during roughly 2km after 7km, a soul- and leg crushing incline onto two hills of spoil piles from the mining times. The rest basically wouldn’t matter anymore if it was not on really sandy ground. However, the heathenarea at the end makes up for it.
Also, I think I’m doing fine with 1:44 on that course 😅

Tokyo Marathon done in around 4:09. 5th of 6 World Marathon Majors.
Not near my fastest or near my slowest, happy with race. When I couldn’t run or really live life for ~2 years due to concussion and stroke, didn’t know if I’d be here here, for sure didn’t expect to have run 10 marathons since.

Managed to squeeze in a birthday-run yesterday before friends and family arrived 🤩. Weather was 10° warmer than a week ago, so first run in shorts this year. Reward was a real nice birthday cake 🎂.
