🚀 #dokieli ( https://dokie.li/ ) is a web-based #decentralized article #publishing and #annotation #application and browser extension, built as an #opensource ( https://git.dokie.li/ ) project using #webstandards.
dokieli enables individuals and communities to publish, share, and annotate articles using their preferred identities and storage, and you are always free to switch to another application and take your content with you.
Why on earth do publishers do this? It drives me nuts!
Why not just pick a book size and keep it consistent for the whole series?

#AnnaWintour tells staff she's seeking day-to-day lead at #Vogue
Anna Wintour is seeking a head of editorial content to handle more of the day-to-day operations at Vogue while retaining plenty of power to keep her a force at the magazine that built her reputation in fashion, a person familiar with the decision said Thursday.

Other writers, I am seeing you all put your full street address at the top of your Shun formatted submissions. This is fine, but today, my editor and agent friends tell me what's more important today is contact email and phone number, and make sure your headers have your email in them today. Yes, some agents and editors *still* print out your work to read. Why? I don't know, but some do, and that header will save your ass if they drop that bundle of paper. It also helps when agents and editors read on their Kindle devices or iPads, etc. Having that header visible at all times with your email will save your ass in more ways you can shake pectoral muscles at. #Publishing #AmWriting #WritingCommunity
This is only step 1. I said it before. Publishers love AI. If they say they will never publish AI generated books, they are lying to you and they will always lie to you. Amazon is excluding spicy romance & LGBTQ books from the affiliates program. It's Bezos obeying the fascists in advance. And it highlights how, with the flip of a switch, they can easily shadow-ban whatever books they want.
I'm removing all my Amazon affiliate links & will deprioritize Amazon links

The US publishing industry finished 2025 at $14.6B in revenue, according to the Association of American Publishers. Trade books alone were $9.8B.
Big market, but still only modest annual growth: +1.1%.

I'm still struggling to find my footing here on Mastodon. A bit with the platforms and tags, but mostly finding people to follow. I'm a bit all over the place, posting about my #writing, be it academic or fiction (mostly #SciFi), and about cool #Science I ran into, and the more common than it should be - complain about stuff.
I'm interested in #SFF, #publishing, #MiniaturePainting, science, #queer culture, academia, human sexuality, geekish humor, #comics & #EarthSci.
Recommend people to me!

Catching up with #BookTube topics this morning and, I have thoughts but nobody will have me on their show. :)
I'm trying to find some solid report/commentary on the notion that, actually, the publishing industry, especially traditional publishers, love—and let me repeat this again—love LLMs/AI and are just waiting for folks to just get used to it or for the younger generations to just roll over and take it. I'm not finding anything. I don't believe, for one second, the industry dislikes LLMs/AI. Individual people might, but you can't sit there and tell me publishing company CEOs are scoffing at LLMs/AI. No. They are just biting their time. I do not—for one second—believe that publishing dislikes AI but I feel I'm in the extreme minority in this. Other authors believe the industry dislikes LLMs just as much as they do. I can assure you, this industry is lying to you. The publishing industry loves AI and is salivating at the day where it's just accepted without consequence.
Writer friends: I have got a forthcoming book, ATTIS & ALEPH, which is in need of a subtitle.
The title shall hold firm, but the subtitle is completely open-ended right now.
Does this combo —
Attis & Aleph: Who the Discourse Is About
— hold appeal or intrigue?
Options: (choose one)
