A note on the political claim that the state pension triple lock is 'unsustainable'.
Isn't it odd that:
lower taxes on capital gains are never 'unsustainable', as aren't in-work benefits that subsidise low-wage employers;
subsidies for industry are never 'unsustainable', as isn't the still small range of estates subject to inheritance tax each year...
all of these can be sustained, but keeping old people from poverty (only just) is 'unsustainable'????

The sentences for Palestine Action activists convicted of criminal damage, but then sentenced on the basis of 'terrorist connections' (something that was not revealed to the jury during its deliberations) are to be appealed.
These attacks on democracy & protest must be halted, but its by no means clear that this appeal will be successful; but if it is, we can expect this to work its way towards the Supreme Court at the behest of the Home Office!

There's something about the everlasting crisis in #Venezuela we all can easily understand: if someone lives a good life in here, or benefits from this situation: that individual is an enemy of the Venezuelan people. Anyone claiming that corporate-like work is apolitical--work that includes business-friendly software development whether it occurs within the walls of a corporate entity or not--is either naive or deliberately obfuscating reality.
"Politics" isn't only about institutions. It's about organizing large numbers of people to do something they wouldn't otherwise do. Corporations organize large numbers of people to do things they probably wouldn't do if they weren't paid and/or didn't need the money to live. 10,000 people wouldn't spontaneously get together and spend the best hours of their days for months building a commercial jet airliner if there weren't corporate structures in place and a society that keeps them close enough to deprivation that they will do this in exchange for money.

When I was doing my "media tour" after DOGE fired me in February 2025, the people interviewing me would always ask what I was worried about DOGE doing with all the data they were gaining access to at federal agencies.
I repeatedly warned that fascism requires enemies to survive, and trans people are one of the enemies for Trump Fascism™, so it's inevitable that the data would eventually be used to go after trans people.
And here we are.
