internet without #piHole / adblocker is possible, but NOPE
pihole
As I age, I become increasingly cautious about my #privacy. The slope the world is sliding on is also a big, unfortunate incentive. I have been eying #PiHole for some time: in this post, I want to explain what it does, how to install it on a #RaspberryPi, and how to integrate it with #Tailscale.
Finally got around to updating my #OpenBSD router (new hardware) pairing it together with an #OpenWRT AP, funnelling everything through a separate #raspberrypi zero running #pihole
Bonus: my Raspberry Pi 400 is now setup with OpenBSD's httpd / relayd - ready to host all of my web projects locally!
That was sure a lot of buzz words...I'll gather my detailed thoughts and breakdown everything into a blog post soon 😄
Ugh. So in the latest version of iOS there’s something called Connectivity Assist. If you’re running a #PiHole or similar then this seems to be bypassing it by instead routing the rejected requests over mobile data instead.
Even the text below the setting says you should probably turn it off if you’re running an ad blocker.
109Mb I’ve used since upgrading for just downloading ads and trackers until I worked it out
