A scarce chaser dragonfly, viewed from a top-down, slightly angled perspective. It has a robust, fuzzy thorax covered in fine, golden-brown hairs. Its abdomen is a striking, vibrant orange-yellow color. A distinct, dark black, ladder-like or segmented pattern runs straight down the center of its abdomen.

The dragonfly has four large, transparent wings fully extended horizontally. The veins of the wings are highly detailed and intricate, showing a golden-yellow coloration near the base, transitioning to darker veins toward the tips.

The dragonfly is resting on the very top of a weathered, vertical wooden post.
