I'm excited to be here on Mastodon! Here's my #introduction - I'm a 5th Generation #Colorado native and have been doing full-time #photography for a while. I cut my teeth in photography while #climbing the highest 100 mountains in Colorado. I love #LandscapePhotography and co-lead an international photo competition - NLPA - we're dedicated to realistically edited #naturephotography. Swedish painter and photographer Oscar Gustave Rejlander died #OTD in 1875.

His most famous work, "The Two Ways of Life" (1857), was a large-scale composite image made from over 30 negatives, depicting a moral allegory between vice and virtue. He worked closely with other pioneers like Henry Peach Robinson and was admired by Charles Darwin, who commissioned him to create photographs for The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals (1872).

The Two Ways of Life, a moralistic photo montage of Rejlanders own work, 1857.

In 1857 he made his best-known allegorical work, The Two Ways of Life. This was a seamlessly montaged combination print made of thirty-two images in about six weeks.

First exhibited at the Manchester Art Treasures Exhibition of 1857, the work shows two youths being offered guidance by a patriarch.

Each youth looks toward a section of a stage-like tableaux vivant - one youth is shown the virtuous pleasures and the other the sinful pleasures.

It's been an interesting year, some great wildlife experiences set against a couple of health scares that have limited my time outside (especially lately). However, I've enjoyed my time outside with the birds and bugs and other creatures that I encounter.

I continue to be grateful for all the support and interaction I get from all of my friends of the birds. So Thank you for the motivation you give me to do what I do.

Ghost leaves.
