At Lake Quinault trying to understand dark filters and bulb exposure! This is a reasonably dim area and a 10% filter so at least some of the images I took today required 12 second exposures. Pretty cool stuff! Probably a million other pictures of exactly this little stream but these are mine! R7, 16-35 L, f2.8 ultrawide and an 85mm L, f1.2 portrait!

Looking down a packed earth path bisecting a former military cannon mount on a very foggy day atop Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands. There are two people at the far end of the path, where the hillside vanishes in fog. I am supposed to join them but there is a giant puddle on the path, blocking my way. My feet are about to get wet. This is why people stay home.

🧵 So I got a new toy: a #Pentax 300mm/f4 lens and a 1.4x extender. That's 420mm in 35mm terms; and 600mm with the extender. That's as long a lens as you'd ever want to use handheld, and way longer than anything I've used before.
