One of the things I love about fresh snow is how it instantly turns the whole world monochrome, leaving just the occasional pop of color behind. It’s almost as if the snowfall wipes the color out of everything it touches.

In this scene, it feels like a black-and-white photo except for the taillights — as if the cars started out in full color, but the snow drained it away, leaving only those last little sparks of red.

I shot a lighted boat parade in Monterey, CA last weekend.

A sailboat adorned all around with white Christmas lights floats down through a dark harbor with a line of other lighted boats trailing it. Last Sunday in a local park. Autumn has been glorious this year.

Russet and mustard leaves cascade over the branches of a single Japanese maple tree. Its trunk is obscured by a bank of foliage which look like bamboo but aren’t. The trunks of two tall trees stand like sentries either side of the maple. Sunlight spotlights the maple boughs and coniferous trees hem in the whole scene to the rear.

We just took a little overnight trip through the spectacular colors of Autumn here in New Mexico a couple of days ago. Here is a tiny taste of what I will share ahead although not taken in NM, rather Utah for the taste. The most beautiful Fall colors I thinik I have ever seen here in NM.

At Horseshoe Bend, you would feel the vastness of the landscape through the immense drop-off of the cliff. The sandstone butte stands tall in the middle, its surface rough and warm from the sun. Square format. Wet tarmac and a small puddle catch the reflection of a telegraph pole and attendant wires. The pole enters the frame from the top edge and extends through the centre. Wires project at 3, 7 and 10 o'clock but their clarity breaks up as they pass through slightly less saturated areas. Although a color shot, the scene is monotone due to overcast skies above. A single raindrop has hit the puddle and small ripples echo.

Well I did it, I submitted my photography to the Desert Art Center’s fall jury for exhibition and sale. If they accept, my prints will be available this winter and spring alongside a bunch of other local artists. No matter what happens, I’m proud of myself for taking this step! Whitefish Bay is located on the eastern side of Lake Superior, with the international boundary between Michigan and Ontario, Canada, cutting across the bay. I've visited this beach countless times, and its allure never fades. It's incredibly easy to become lost in dreams while gazing out across the water.

I haven’t modified the colors or hues in either image—both display the natural, distinct tones present at the time.
