A dense morning fog fills a quiet forest, turning the background almost white and blurring every edge. A lone figure, seen from behind, walks away along a wide path covered in damp, brown leaves. Above them, bare branches and a few rusty autumn leaves arch into view from either side, framing the misty corridor. The light is diffuse with very low contrast; the trees and shrubs alongside the path fade after a few metres and the distant trees disappear completely, creating a muted, contemplative atmosphere in which no other people, animals or buildings are visible.

Forest spirits

A large tree shaped like a chalice, with dramatic curling branches, reaches for the sky. Many other trees in the forest stand around this tree in reverence and there is no question who reigns over the forest. This wise old tree is filled with forest spirits which give shape to its form as it reaches from deep below the ground up to the sun and stars.
