A 15 second exposure taken on a very dark and damp night from the center of San Francisco's main street. The view looks east. Downtown and the Ferry Building are barely visible in the far distant center of the photo. More prominently, car headlights streak past on either side of the camera. The long streaks of headlights light up the yellow lane markers that define a narrow traffic island where my camera and tripod are perched.

Tulip trees (Liriodendron tulipifera) are one of my favorites, with their straight trunks and majestic shapes. Their leaves and flowers are pretty too. A native of eastern North America, it's a lovely park tree.

Off to the left you can see more lawn leading down to the shore of Lake Washington, with the neighborhood spread across the distant shore, backed by a blue line of mountains.

This is an Autumn season photo of a very mature deciduous tree alongside a hiking trail. Many leaves have already fallen to the ground and the leaves remaining on the tree are a mix of green, yellow and orange. It was taken on a fair weather day with traces of the blue sky visible through the branches. The sunshine creates an illuminating effect on the leaves in the upper branches. The tree looks somewhat majestic and strong in terms of it's presence in the forest.

PBN #88 - Street shooting, hummingbirds, and a Slow Food Cycle event!

I’m an instructor of beginner photographers. On Sunday, I send an email with tips, tricks, articles, pictures, etc. Info I think students can use. It’s for “regular” camera users and those who shoot with smartphones.

There’s mention of things to do where I am but it’s mostly for beginning #photography students to help them take better photos - NOT for advanced shooters. 😃
