With Amazon killing off all the old kindles, they’re super-cheap right now. And it turns out that jailbreaking is a minor faff, but not too difficult, really. This one was £10 and is going to somebody who was pondering getting an expensive eink ebook reader just a couple of weeks ago. :D

the text editor is beginning to croak back into life!
this is a 100-ish line text editor written in Altair BASIC
i have corrected and adapted the program to run on this Tiny BASIC, which runs on virtually every micro-controller board available in the west:

what happens in this video is:
1. a text file is loaded at the INPUT prompt
2. the file is read into memory with "R"
3. the file paged through with "N"
4. individual lines for editing are listed with "L"

Is there such a thing as high-performance #permacomputing ? 
On one hand, HPC implies centralization. On the other hand, some important tasks like weather prediction or build farms benefit everyone and require centralized infrastructure.
Just a reminder that Usenet, the original de-centralised, federated internet discussion forum without companies or governments deciding who gets to post what, is still alive 45+ years after its inception. And no age verification either.
It's very light-weight too and a breeze to peruse, unencumbered by malicious surveillance tech and ad optimisation, especially with a text-based UI like tin.
