"Room With A View" ... A favorite of mine taken on top of #BlueKnob mountain several years back. The part I like is the feeling of early, early springtime! We're nearly through February, and that means spring is on it's way!!!

A quaint little shack sits alone and forlorn on top of Blue Knob Mountain, All Season's Resort, in Claysburg, PA.

Seen on a quiet spring day, you would think the true view here at the top of Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, Pennsylvania, would be just at the rim of the hill the shack is perched upon. And that is the view we normally can't wait to visit. It's breathtaking ... the rolling hills of the Laurel Highlands ripple out in front of us like waves upon the sea. But on this day .. the quiet light, the trees just beginning to leaf out, the clouds ... and most fun, the golden dandelions at our feet, beg us to take a extra moment or two to enjoy the simplicity of the wooden ski-shack itself.

It'll take a couple of seasons, but soon it will no longer be forlorn. As soon as snow flies, the skiers will return ... and it will see its share of fun again.

On a soft spring morning, gentle sunlight highlights four wooden adirondack chairs arranged on green lawns. Surrounded by a tall trees and colorful wildflowers, the views of the distant hills beneath clear blue skies create a serene and inviting atmosphere.

Several years ago I spied a scarlet tanager in just this spot. I've never seen one before or since ... they don't frequent my backyard feeders at home, but on that day I had my camera and the 150-500mm Sigma lens with me and shoot that pretty birdie I did! But the distance was still too great, so even with the big lens, my captures were only useful for personal memories of the moment. To honor the birdie, I painted two of the little guys into this scene, as an homage to what Mother Nature has up her sleeves, if we're only in the right place at the right time to see. And hopefully have our camera handy, too!

Loosely based on my own photo and digitally hand painted in Corel Painter 2023 using the Wacom tablet and art pen stylus. No artificial intelligence programs used.
