Thank you so much to @hpkomic for bringing the characters from my fantasy story to life! They look amazing! 😆

In case anybody is interested, I wanted to share the playlist I listen to while writing. It's mostly just songs from RPG soundtracks with all the fight music trimmed out. I think it's turned out pretty good after a couple of years of curating!

I've got some great news to share today: "(Not) A Hero Story," the comedic fantasy LitRPG I've been working on for the past couple of years, is now available to read for free online. Join Marty and the gang on their misadventures at https://notaherostory.com! 🥳
The first four chapters are available now, but I'll be releasing a new chapter every month until next September, so stay tuned to see what happens next. (Don't worry: every chapter is a self-contained story, so there aren't many cliffhangers.)
I'm glad to finally share this story with other people! I said I've been working on this project for the past couple of years, but, really, it has been in the works for over a decade at this point. It's a labor of love and I'm really proud of what it has become.
The art on the banner was done by the incredible @hpkomic and @Casino! They did amazing work 👏
Enjoy!

I'm super late for my biannual re-#introduction post... Whoops! 😅
Anyway, I'm slanderoid. I'm just some guy from a tiny #rural village in Midwest, USA. I came to #Mastodon after #Twitter turned into a medical waste dumpster fire back in 2022. I'm turning 40 in a week and I feel weird about it
I'm a #geek. (Or a #nerd, I'm not sure which.) I love #horror of all kinds. I used to play a lot of #VideoGames but not so much, lately. I'm more into #movies and #music at the moment. I love #books and I can often be found #reading something. My wife and I run a big #LittleFreeLibrary from our front lawn. We've got some big plans for it next year!
I recently launched a website full of my #writing over at https://notaherostory.com. #NotAHeroStory has been my dream for many years and it's cool that, after some hard work, time, and dedication, it finally exists! If you're into #fantasy, #comedy, #LitRPG, or #beer, you should check it out. It's 94% free!
If you're new here, welcome! 😄

I made an executive decision yesterday: I'm not going to use this account to post updates for "(Not) A Hero Story". I'll still post about the writing process and all that junk but I want to keep this account personal
Instead, I made another account where I'll share updates. If you want to follow it, it's @NotAHeroStory
I would love to see you there!
This is the new main account for #NotAHeroStory and I think an #introduction is in order!
This is where I, @slanderoid, will be posting updates about the #fantasy #LitRPG series I'm #writing instead of having them overload my personal timeline. Follow this account to stay up-to-date! I'll be posting about new chapters as they become available, new #art as it's made, and events I'll be attending to promote the story.
I hope you enjoy the misadventures of Marty and the gang! ⚔️
