Thank you to every person who had choices about where to protest today, and still chose to add their number to a smaller protest.
Sure, it's absolutely impressive to see Philly, Boston, Chicago, L.A. But what's really impressive to me are the smaller towns with enthusiastic participants. It's different when you don't have a big crowd where you can blend in. Granted, I would like to experience one of those huge crowds to see what it's like, but I will probably always prioritize the smaller communities deep in red territory. They might need me more.
At any rate, I am happy for every person who is a part of this in any way whatsoever.
And thank you, Minneapolis/St. Paul for bearing more than your share, and leading the way. We salute you!

#NoKings is great. I know there's plenty of room for criticism, but it does present a really good opportunity to network with other people who want to do something.
That said, if your whole plan is "I'm gonna hold a sign until something changes" you're in for some really bad news.
Protesting is symbolic. You are begging people in power to (please, please, please) change things. It literally does not matter how many of you there are, they do no actually have to care. The only way to make them care is to fuck with the money.
America, like all dictatorships, runs on money. Nothing is going to change unless you interrupt the money.
While Trump is doing a pretty good job of that himself (especially with the current war), things will have to get a *lot* worse before they get better unless you are *doing something.*

It’s hard to shoot while carrying a spine, so I have the bare minimum from #NoKings in San Jose yesterday, but here are a few.
Attendance held steady from the last one, but the energy was higher. I can project vocally and I’ll turn the volume up to 11 when the chant leader is having trouble getting people to join in. I only had to do that once at the very start yesterday.
The makeup of the crowd was different too. There were a lot more Persians there or at least they were more noticeable because most of them were carrying the pre-1979 Sun Lion Iranian flag.
That’s important because Iranian expats are in a confusing space. Most of them have no love for the current government and have to thread the needle of protesting the war without supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran or “the fucking mullahs” as some of them might say.
There were even a few people carrying Islamic Republic of Iran flags. You wouldn’t typically see those people around the ones carrying Sun Lion flags.
The coalition is growing.
