I really like taking photos, and I'd like more people to see them!

A few months ago I got a Nikon D5300 with a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 lens, and here's a smol peek into some of what I've made with it so far.

Landscape at sunset, photographed through a gap between large rocks atop a mountain. One rock juts out into the centre, covered with a sprinkling of snow. Behind it, below, are some leafless trees. Between them and the clearly visible horizon are many smaller, forested hills, and some villages, all covered by a gentle, blueish winter mist. The sky is a soft orange, yellow and lavender, with a tiny scattering of clouds far away. The whole scene has a very trainquil feeling.

Another forest scene but this one is deep green and full of spiky cedar boles surrounded by lush green young deciduous saplings and shrubbery. The upper right quadrant of the image is washed out so that distant tree boles appear red.

A nearly monochrome photo taken with a digital camera using a macro lens. Frozen pond ice is photographed close up so you can see many bubbles that lookk white an crystalline that look as if they could be drifty into the background of the photo. Under the bubbles you have the hint of detritus that was floating near the surface of the pond as the water froze.

This is Mrs. Arcus ca 1972 using my first "good" camera, a Pentax Spotmatic II. (I still have it.).

This is professional scan of a slide, perhaps from Extachrome. 50 mm kit lens. No idea of the camera settings.

Today is our 55th wedding anniversary.
