Thursday started late as Mrs S was off to the office.

Weather has been somewhere between grim & ‘orrible, classic English winter weather!

Chores were done and then I hid away in a virtual world to stop myself doomscrolling. Well that’s my excuse & I’m sticking to it!

Ahh, I nearly didn’t write this today, but I was stern with myself & decided to bore the world into submission!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 830 , Wednesday 04/02/2026

Wednesday started just after 7am.

We woke to snow & though that melted thru the day it’s not been a particularly nice day!

Breakfast was followed by the usual daily chores & then I knocked one of the bigger jobs off the list & cleaned the filters & rollers on the vacuum cleaner.

This afternoon saw me back in medieval Bohemia off to visit a fortress on a hill.

We had slow cooked beef short rib with veg & baby potatoes covered in a bourbon sweet sauce for tea, very nice!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day at all, glad I managed to cross one of the bigger jobs off my list.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 832 , Friday 06/02/2026

Friday started at around 7:15 despite my most earnest efforts to sleep longer!

It’s been another cold & utterly dreary day.
After breakfast chores were committed.

I was due to go & help Mrs S with another tidying session but it seems my aid was not required.

Thus released I headed back into medieval Bohemia!

Pizza for tea tonight, it had mushroom, sweetcorn & peppers on it (as well as other more meaty toppings) so it was, to all intents & purposes, health food! 😜

Final Thoughts.

I’ve been slowly, ever so slowly, working on decorating the box room post Router move last year.
I’m doing a little bit each day in the faint hope that I might get it done by next Christmas.
I would be more enthused about doing it if I didn’t have to clear up after everyone else all the time. Hey ho.

Sunday started just before 8am

Today has been just another day.

The high point was hearing from my niece that she is enjoying her birthday. We are going over next weekend for a family do as her mum has a birthday this month too.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 833 , Saturday 07/02/2026

Saturday started at around 07:30 after a disturbed night, mostly my own fault. I stayed up until nearly 1am gaming, I know that if I go to bed that late I don’t sleep. I also forgot to double check that the timer on the washing machine had been set right. It bangs the pipes when it opens & shuts the inlet valve so I have to make sure that it starts around 4am when I’m deeply asleep but also gives the cycle time to finish before 7am when the Economy 7 tariff flips over to the day rate.
Mrs S is …. overly cautious & is far enough away from the pipe work that it doesn’t disturb her sleep so she sets the cycle to start at around 2am. This also means that the wet washing is in the machine for 2 extra hours. It’s usually one of my mitigation routines to check the start time of the wash cycle but sometimes I forget. My bad.

Did my chores then had a couple of hours on the PS5.

Caught up on Mrs S’s shows this afternoon then watched Denzel Washington in ‘Safe House’ while we had a chinese takeaway for tea.

Final Thoughts.

I spend far too much time on ‘mitigation’ but it’s how I stay vaguely sane.

Sometimes it uses up all my available spoons.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 835 , Monday 09/02/2026

Monday started Early, at around 06:30, partially because I went to bed a little earlier & partially because I’ve moved my bed slightly - only a couple of feet, just so its not right next to the window. Obviously my brain felt this was a couple of feet too many & treated it as ‘strange bed syndrome’ as if I had moved house or was sleeping elsewhere!

Did my chores & did a bit more wallpaper stripping in the box room - in theory I should be able to strip & redecorate in like 3 days but nowhere near enuf spoons for that, so I nibbled at at it a bit at a time.

Spent a chunk of time in medieval Bohemia too.

Ordered a new desk chair, Mrs S is treating me & I’ve see a right comfortable looking one in Costco™ in the sale!

Pizza burger for tea - yes another naughty takeaway. I really need to get my diet under control!

Finished season 2 of the Night Manager while we ate tea … well I never! (Can’t say more there maybe peeps who haven’t seen it yet! )

Final Thoughts.

I was a bit slow in ordering my chair, vacillating over wether to get it or not - thus while I did order it in time for the discount I did miss out on my trademark black finish.
That said the one I am getting is … Beige! So there’s some zen type karma type thing going off there!

Tuesday has been a quiet day for the most part, chores were done & more wallpaper has vanished off the walls of the box room.

There may even have been some time spent in medieval Bohemia!

I do like KCD2, just entered the 2nd of 2 huge open world maps, so much to explore!

Oh Nuggan’s holey nuts I wish this winter was over, it is wall to wall grey, or thats how it seems!

Wednesday has been another manky winters day!

Chores were done, more wallpaper was stripped of its dignity & throw naked to the floor of the box room - I was up a set of short stepladders getting the bits my short-arsed frame won’t allow me to reach!

Then a romp around medieval Bohemia!

We watched a documentary about the 5 brave double agents who convinced Hitler that D-day was gonna hit Calais.
It’s sad to think that the far right are upturning their efforts & ensuring that their sacrifice was, ultimately, in vain!

I’m quite pleased with the progress in the box room, there maybe sanders at dawn next week when I’m planning to tackle the woodwork!

Thursday nearly started early at just after 6am but I rolled over for 5. More minutes & woke again at just gone 7am!

Rinse & repeat today, chores, bit more prep work in the box room & then a decent romp in medieval Bohemia.

I noticed that there is a new version of No Mans Sky released, but I’m far to entangled in KCD2 to care too much about it at the moment.

We have a warning for yellow snow tonight & tomorrow, I’m hoping it doesn’t disrupt our plans for Saturday night!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 839 , Friday 13/02/2026

Friday started just after 7am, the snow promised overnight had not settled & we had a day of what is known as in meteorological circles as ‘wintery showers’ .

Chores were done & I did a little more in the box room, but not much as my Beige desk chair was due.

The delivery window was 08:00 to 12:00 so of course I had to wait until 11:50 for the delivery.

There was then a merry 30 minutes spent fighting with short bolt ‘F’ & ever so slightly longer bolt ‘J’ & getting them inserted into the right receptacles!

The chair however is comfy & sturdy, the arms do in fact have an upright position, so I can pretend I’m leaving an aircraft when I put them up to stow the chair under my desk of an evening to give me free access to my wardrobe!

I also ordered a new set of headphones for Mrs S by way of a somewhat extravagant Valentines gift (my new chair being her gift to me). I hasten to add that we normally content ourselves with a box of chocolates or some such & this year is very much a one off.

I had a Calzone for tea … I ordered a 10” one but got a 12” which is massive, the left overs are going to serve as lunch tomorrow!

Final Thoughts.

I read about the demonstration that is planned outside the RNLI’s HQ in Poole tomorrow by a bunch of neo-nazi fascists & instantly saw red!
How very dare they accuse a group of volunteers whose sole aim is to rescue folk in peril at sea of endangering communities & families in the UK!
The world gets madder, badder & sadder by the day!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 841 , Sunday 15/02/2026

Sunday started fairly early at around 07:30 in the very AM!

Had to get my chores done before we set off for a visit to my brother, his partner & my niece. Which was followed by a family meal to celebrate 4 family birthdays that happened in the last couple of weeks.

The weather was a mixture of dreary to awful. Yje high point being going across the moors this morning which were covered in a blanket of snow - very scenic it was too!

Had a great time chewing the fat at my brothers & then had a nice plate of gammon, eggs & chips (fries to our American contingent).

Went back to my sisters for coffee & birthday cake before heading home.

Got back fairly early as Mrs S was tried having sat in the car then sat in the restaurant then sat in relatives houses.

Final Thoughts.

I enjoyed the day although I know Mrs S would have preferred to stay at home reading / catching up on her TV shows. Hey ho.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 840 , Saturday 14/02/2026

Saturday started initially around 6am with one of the kids next door sobbing his heart out for the longest time, but I managed to roll over & drop off again for another hour.

Had a fairly active morning (for me) driven by the bright sunlight that we were gifted with today.

I dismantled my old chair - it is still a decent one & so I’m gifting it to my niece who has just turned 15.
We are off to see them tomorrow so I thought I better get a head start on preparing it for transportation.

Also ran the vacuum cleaner over the upstairs carpets & the lounge!

Managed to squeeze in an hour of KCD2 into the bargain!

Had what was left of last night’s calzone for lunch - very nice!

We caught up on a couple of Mrs S’s shows this afternoon & then binged 3 eps of ‘The Final Frontier’ which is a really good show!

Final Thoughts.

Off to our fave eatery for a Valentine’s meal soo posting this with a timer so I wrote this around 18:30!

Tuesday started at around 7:30 but I got diverted by messing with the automation on my iphone so that thru the day out by an hour!

Chores were done then I went wild & gave the washing machine a deep clean.

Hotdog for lunch - heck I know how to live the life! 😆

Then not unsurprisingly a romp around medieval Bohemia.

The door demons were strong today, even getting past them to take the veg peelings to the compost heap was a challenge.

Wednesday started at around 7am.

Chores were done & then I faced the Door Demons & went out to Costco™.

So many people!

I had a moment at the till, I had forgotten my card pin so I looked it up, but a;; that seemed to fill my brain up & I started to walk away without loading the shoping back into the trolly!

Got back home just in time for lunch, Mrs S appearing just as I had finished putting the shopping away & expecting her lunch.

Hit Kuttenberg in KCD2 & ended up doing the same quest 3 times because I kept forgetting stuff!

Stripped the bed then sorted breakfast.

We watched a couple of Mrs S’s shows over coffee then I did a few chores.

Had a bit of a ‘Hijack’ binge this afternoon with a break ½ thru to make the bed.

Had a takeaway for tea!

I have struggled with getting stuff done today, but I have done my daily chores & made a little progress with re arranging my bookshelves - although now most of my books are anywhere but on a bookshelf, at some poitn I am going to have to put them all back somewhere!

Had a beef ragu with baby potatoes & veg for tea - actually rather nice!

This winter is murdering my motivation, I just cannot seem to get my act into gear!

Friday started at around 07:15.

Its been another miserable, grey, wet winters day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & I have responded by hiding indoors!

Chores followed breakfast.

After lunch I played some KCD2 then around 15:30 decided that the best way to get my room organised was to rearrange my not insubstantial collection of books so that those I will need for my forthcoming return to computing basics should be to hand above my desk.

It should be noted that dusting is not a forte of mine, this became amply apparent as I took down the volumes from my top shelf!

Despite placing it in a ‘safe’ place while rearranging my books I managed to knock the model dragon Mrs S got me for my birthday over & of course it hit something as it fell so now I will have to see if i can effect repairs before she notices!

So many books! So little time!

Had a burger for tea rather than my usual pizza & very nice it was too!

Watched an episode of ‘Judge John Deed’ this evening, very enjoyable!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day all things being equal, shame about the dragon. I wonder if being clumsy is an ND trait?

Saturday started at just gone 07:30am

It’s been another wet & dreary day, at least it was a little warmer!

I’m still working on sorting out the books in my bedroom, it’s a case of no plan survives first contact, with ½ my books on the desk & the floor I’m now considering the 1001 ways they can go back.

I was going to move my pTerry collection but I realised that I really like the way I have the boxed versions of his short stories arranged. So now its a case of figuring out where I can put my computer reference books where they are nice & handy. Of course my brain is now processing every possible permutation & so we end the day with no progress being made!

Caught up on a couple of Mrs S’s TV shows this afternoon & then we started the 2nd season of ‘Hijack’ - Idris Elba keeping us on the edge of our seats!

Hopefully I can get my brain back on track & my books back on the shelves tomorrow!
