TL;DR Yay for the chores getting done & putting up the mirror. Oooops USA kidnaps leader of another country. Green Party here I come!

Saturday started surprisingly late at around 07:30.

After breakfast Mrs S went shopping & I finished the daily chores & then in an unusual burst of energy I cleaned the coffee machine, put up a full length mirror in my room (one rescued from my late MiLs ) & hoovered the lounge.
It felt good to have achieved these small goals!

Then I made the mistake of catching up on my TL ... Oh Nuggan’s holey nuts!

The orange oaf has invaded Venezuela & kidnapped their President (not a nice guy but still!) & their 1st lady!
Subsequently the UK's pitiful excuse for a PM stated: "The UK has long supported a transition of power in Venezuela. We regarded Maduro as an illegitimate President and we shed no tears about the end of his regime."

I don't usually get political here but WTAF!?!

Not surprisingly these events took the gloss off my day.

Final Thoughts.

I feel terribly sorry for the people of Venezuela, they have had to put up with a corrupt dictator as a leader & have now been plunged into a war that they cannot win with a wanna be dictator. I hope that, when the dust settles in the months possibly years to come they do manage to return to a form of government that more concerned with the welfare of its people than the wealth of its resources!

I'm done with Labour, they are led by a man with no more morals than BJ & have utterly forsaken their grass roots supporters in so many ways.

Old Zack Polanski seems like an upstanding kinda guy & let's face it the Greens are far more in tune with my ideological standpoint than any of the other parties. (With the exception of the SDP, but Ed Davey needs to stop acting the fool because I just can't take him seriously!)

Sunday started around 8am after a decent lie in.

I made breakfast for me & Mrs S then did my chores.

Got about an hour on the PS5 romping around in KCD2 - I’ve finally found my characters dog ‘Mutt’ so next is to reclaim my horse.

Mrs S wanted to binge watch the latest series (s3) of ‘Blue Lights’ this afternoon & evening.

Ugh, reality bites, I will have to get my ass into gear this coming week, people to do & things to see!

Monday started at around 6am with a sore throat, a runny nose & next doors kids dawn chorus!

I appear to have contracted the bug that Mrs S had the end of last week & over the weekend.

It’s been a quiet day, I’ve done most of my chores but it has to be said I was grateful when Mrs S sorted out the bins!

No nothing - my mind is as blank as the list of climate change actions that the USA are undertaking to commit to!

No such luck, my nose is leaking like a tap & someone is trying to drive a bypass thru my head!

Wednesday started late after quite frankly a rubbish night.

It’s been another day of fighting off the man flu … currently 2 steps forward & 6 steps back!

Manage to get a couple of chores doe, but dropped & smashed one of my favourite coffee mugs while washing up - not happy about that!

Been playing some KCD2 today - I really need to remember to save my progress when I go into a fight - lost ½ a days progress late this afternoon after I got mauled to deff by wolves!

Not had much of an appetite today which is not a bad thing need to lose some of this weight!

Friday started early-ish at around a quarter to 7 in the am, mostly because I fell asleep at a ridiculously early hour despite my sleep being more a chain of naps with moment of consciousness between them.

Another quiet day, I started the day coughing up a lung, but this evening I’m actually starting to feel better than I have all week.

Final Thoughts.

It seems I’m on the mend - which I am heartily grateful for.
I wonder if I have had some form of actual flu that has mostly been softened by the flu jab I had this year.

Thursday was, more or less an extension of Wednesday. Sleep was again somewhat hesitant to find me last night. Just for a change my internal thermometer turned the temperature up to 11!

I think I’ve had 8 hours sleep in the last 3 nights, I don’t run well on this little sleep!

Managed to distract myself playing KCD2 for much of the day. There was a break just after lunch when I had to stand outside in the cold & wet holding a ladder for the guy who came to fix our gutters. It was worthwhile as it has needed doing for a while now!

Friday started around 7am, with winter making its presence felt in the form of an overnight snow shower.

It’s been cold, damp & dank all day.

Did my chores & then vanished into the virtual world of medieval Bohemia.
I’m currently holed up in a secret den in the heart of a forest in medieval Bohemia, I need to be patient & wait for darkness to catch the last of a group of bandits. ADHD me can’t do that so I’m merrily disturbing all the other denizens of the area!

Pizza for tea, a chicken on e for a change! Very nice it was too!

Ah Saturday!

I’ve felt a lot better today, i’m definitely on the road to recovery!

Climbing the stairs is still more exhausting that I would normally like but the other symptoms are slowly receding!

We watched a couple of episodes of ‘The Night Manager’ season 1 then decided to have a movie - ‘Dead of Winter’ (The 2025 version) with our tea, a Chinese takeaway. The move was really good - Emma Thompson providing an unusual heroine.
There is a dedication at the end ‘For Daniel’ which I cannot seem to find a reason for. I wonder if I’m being especially dense.

I feel better able to cope with the complete chaos that is the world today!

Sunday started around 8am after a reasonable nights sleep!

Its been a foggy & wet winters day & in classic English winter style it’s basically gonna rain for the rest of the week!

We went foraging to Costco™, it was stupidly busy but we made it thru!

A nice relaxing rest of the day, catching up on Mrs S’s shows.

Aside from fighting off the screaming hordes in Costco™ its not been a bad day all told.

Really wasn’t feeling the full monty today & spent most of it searching for a suit of armour in KCD2.

Was back on semi normal food by teatime which was a relief!

Tuesday started around 07:30, it would have been later but I forgot to put y earplugs in so the pre-dawn chorus of next door kids woke me up.

A quiet day of chores & KCD2 - Mrs S was out in the office so I had the house mostly to myself.

I need to go get a blood test on Thursday - I’ll have to see if I can persuade Mrs S to drop me off at the hospital because the GPs are claiming that they are snowed under. I have no doubt that I will wait several hours for the dubious benefit of some one taking 5 minutes to stab me in the arm!

So going forward I am just going to write this diary when something has actually happened in my day, there seems little point in writing about days when it just the usual humdrum of existence.

08:11 Oh Nuggan’s holey nuts! I just rang our GP surgery & was first in the queue!!!
This never happens! One has to ring on the dot of 8am to book an appointment & even ringing to the second I have never been first in 10 years since they 1st brought this system in!
Admittedly the appointment isn’t until Monday but still!
Also proud that I fought the phone demons & made the call - hate instigating none written comms!

So after this morning’s excitement I spent the rest of the day in medieval Bohemia painting a bull & sorting out a land rights issue!

The high point of the day was pizza for tea - specifically a meat feats pizza, which was as naughty as it was nice!

I can only express my deepest condolences to his family & friends.

Saturday was just like any other Saturday until Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse was beaten up & then shot by ICE in Minneapolis.

I feel incredibly sad that this man, who’s only crime seems to have been witnessing ICE activities & possibly to give them a piece of his mind - which most of the people I know would do as a matter of course, has lost his life.

I can only express my deepest condolences to his family & friends.

I cannot help but wonder if I will wake up to a new reality in the USA in the morning.

Sunday started around 8am after a nice lie in.

I’d like to say it’s been a relaxing day & that I’ve managed to avoid doom scrolling but that would be a fib.

Still I’ve managed to get thru the day without spontaneously exploding or ‘Happening’ to anyone so we’ll call it a no score draw hey.

For lunch I grated the last of the speciality cheese from christmas (cheshire with cranberries ) on top of a couple of halved bread cakes & bunged them in the airfryer for 4 minutes then added some sliced pickled onions to make a couple of impromptu cheese n onion sarnies - surprisingly tasty!

We caught up on a couple of Mrs S’s shows this afternoon then watched the last 2 eps of ‘Down Cemetery Rd’ with some nuked lamb hotpot.

The actions of the 4th reich yesterday reverberate around the world &, as the orange oaf threatens the 2nd amendment, the press suddenly become ‘aware’ of what is going on.
Or am I being cynical?

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 821 , Monday 26/01/2026

Monday started earlier than normal at around 7am.

Had to go for a blood test at just after 8am, the cold & my naturally shy veins resulted in the phlebotomist having to make 3 attempts to squeeze a measly couple of mm of the old claret from this stone!

Then after a restorative cuppa & doing a couple of chores I had to cross the wild wastes of Yorkshire to play babysitter to the chap doing the valuation of the contents of my MiLs house.

He was due at 12 but was about 30 minutes late - which gave me a little longer to sort things out.

Was back home for a latish lunch & then lost myself in medieval Bohemia for a few hours!

I was treated to a Fried chicken takeaway for my tea by way of reward for my efforts today.

I was very anxious having to meet a new person on my own, but my masks held & it all went well in the end.

Saturday started at around 07:30.

It’s been another quiet day, the weather improved as the day wore on & the sun came out this afternoon!

We started watching ‘The Diplomat’ this afternoon, it has potential it must be said.

Watched George Clooney in ‘The Midnight Sky’ while we enjoyed a Chinese takeaway.

Final Thoughts.

Sounds like we’re off to do some more tidying up at my late MiL’s place tomorrow.
I might take out spot carpet cleaner, it’s not really supposed to be for big cleaning jobs but there is a really nasty patch on the living room carpet that is basically a biohazzard!
Mrs S would never think to clean it so it falls to me as all such jobs do.

Tuesday started late, Mrs S went into the office so I got a nice lie in.

It’s been a monumentally wet & ‘orrible day. It has been so dark that the low light sensors on various lights in the house kicked in.

Did my cores after breakfast & then went & hid in medieval Bohemia for the rest of the day.

Days like this just suck all the energy out of me, & we’re not even out of January yet!

Sunday started around 8am after a nice lie in.

Breakfast so had & then we poddled over to my late MiL’s wen I spent the better part of 2 hours cleaning a 3ft sq stretch of the living room carpet. Suggestions to get a cleaner in, both before & after my Mother in Law passed, fell on deaf ears.

We got home around 2pm & had a garlic sausage sarnies for a late lunch!

We relaxed this afternoon with a binge session of ‘The Night Manager’ season 2!

Not a bad day, that carpet in my MiL’s place really needs a professional to have a go at it!

Monday started around 07:30.

First job was to write & post cards for my Niece & her mum who have birthdays within 2 days of each other.
Wandered down the hill to the postbox then, as our hill is moderately steep, staggered back home.

Hung out the laundry as I was passing back thru the garage.

Finally got breakfast at around 08:30.

The rest of the morning was dedicated to various chores.

Lunch was a bag of crisps, a satsuma & a glass of cherry juice (to placate Geoff the Gouty left toe).

The afternoon was dedicated to finishing off the last couple of quests & side quests in the first area of KCD2. Tonight I will be going to a wedding when I get back into the virtual world of medieval Bohemia!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, my back & thighs have been complaining about me being on my hands & knees for the better part of 2 hours yesterday, but hopefully that will pass in the next couple of days.

Wednesday started around 7am.

It’s been a gloriously sunny day which has helped speed me thru the chores today.

Went wild & put the dishwasher on a cleaning cycle while we had a little extra power from the solar panels.

We had steak & kidney pie (M&S’s best) with button mushrooms & a mushroom sauce. Went wild & got Mrs S to get us some chips to go with it (thats fires to our American Peeps).

I should have gone for a walk today but the door demons are getting the better of me at the moment.

Tuesday started at just after 7am.

It’s been a grey & drab day, the British winter returning to the way I remember it as a kid!

Its been one of those quiet days today with nothing to really diffentiate it.

Well apart from chocolate brownies & custard for dessert at tea time!

I am just so overwhelmed by world events, I saw a thing on Fartarge faking a photo op with a kid with brain cancer, turns out it’s AI slop.
All this *spreads arms wide* is filling up what little space I have spare in what passes for my brain has me avoiding almost all other human interactions.
Where once I would have commented on a toot now I don’t, it takes a physical effort to keep in touch with folk.

Thursday started somewhat reluctantly at around 7am.
I really did not want to get out of bed this morning, but staying in bed held little appeal either.

Breakfast was partaken of & chores were done.
I’ve spent the entire day believing it was Friday! 🙄🤦‍♂️

I had to ditch most of yesterday’s progress in medieval Bohemia.
Hey ho. On a plus note this is one of the few games where I haven’t started from the beginning again as I came to grips with the game mechanics!

Final Thoughts.

I’m coping with the world falling apart around my ears by hiding away in the virtual world of KCD2.

Not the best coping strategy in the world I admit, but I guess there are worse ones.
