Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1030 , Sunday 23/08/2026

Sunday started around 07:30 after a decent nights sleep - which was nice.

Made breakfast & did some basic chores then we went across to my late MiLs place to make sure all the light bulbs worked (spoilers - 2 were replaced & more are on order) & to take down the remaining shelves to help the cleaning folk who are coming on Tuesday.

We stopped off at one of our fave eatery for lunch on the way home - it being Sunday the choice was one of 4 varieties of traditional Sunday roast. I had lamb & Mrs S had chicken - very nice we both agreed!

This afternoon was a very relaxed affair, with a double bill of ‘Cadfael’ & then the first episode of the new version of ‘Bergerac’ which was nothing like as good as what I remember of the orginal series!

Final Thoughts.

We got a lot done today & the weather was really nice so chalking it up as a win!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1031 , Monday 24/08/2026

Monday started just after 6am & I got my ass down the gym!

I was reasonably impressed by the fact that I did not need to go for easier settings / weights. Whilst it was a hard session - I have been away for 2 weeks after all - it was not so hard that I had to lose any ground!

Got home & after breakfast & chores I spent a couple of hours going thru the tools that came from my late FiLs garage.

The vast majority will be going to a charity that can refurbish them & then get them to folk who can use them.

Spent the afternoon tacking a set of reoccurring crashes in Starfield … after a bit of research on whats left of the web it turns out that me hoarding everything that didn’t move out of the way was the problem - this was exacerbated by having a ship with a huge cargo hold. I sold a load of stuff & that seems to have fixed the problem. I still have a lot of stuff to get rid of but I can do that over the next few days.

Not a bad day at all.

It has been sunny but not overly warm, the weather settling into a more familiar British summer pattern.

I am glad that I’m back at the gym … it is still a conscious effort to go, I have to force myself to get out & I have yet to encounter any kind of endorphin buzz. It is just hard work, but hopefully it will lead to me losing weight & being healthier!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1032 , Tuesday 25/08/2026

Up early - at just before 7am to see if Mrs S wanted me to go & let the cleaners in at her mums, as it happens she didn’t so while I had got up early it was somewhat of a relief not to spend most of the morning on another MiL related task.

Chores & breakfast were followed by a day of relaxing interspersed with a few odd jobs. Nothing too major because my brain was like ‘No way mate’ when I presented it with anything more difficult than some light tidying up.

I gave Alice a good brush today - it is, like cleaning out the litter tray - a job that apparently only I can do. I have to be very careful as Alice is very skittish & wary so one has to let her get very comfy & add lots of stroking & love.

We had fried garlic sausage & mushrooms with an egg& potato tortilla Mrs S got at the weekend.
Wasn’t bad, but I’m glad Mrs S stepped up & did the dishes because there were double the normal amount! (Although some basic rearrangement of the dishes in the dishwasher would have saved her washing the frying pan but she had done it before I could say anything.

Final Thoughts.

Ugg back to the gym in the morning!

Also given the amount of fur that came off Alice how is she still the same size!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1033 , Wednesday 26/08/2026

Gym day so up early & in the gym around 07:15.

Today’s session was quite painful for a couple of reasons.

I cut my toenails last week but for some reason missed a bit on the 4th toe on my right foot. This decided today was the day it was going to hold me to task by rubbing very painfully against my middle toe. I tried to adjust my socks / trainers but to no avail! Later inspection at home would reveal that I basically rasped the skin off the middle toe!

The other problem was that I did not get away completely free by having 2 weeks away from the gym, with my calf muscles complaining vigorously about the abuse. Hey ho, hopefully a few more sessions will get me limber again.

A quiet day followed, motivation being in short supply.

Final Thoughts.

Well lesson learned on the toe nail front, I will have to make sure that there are no sharp edges in future - not a problem I’ve encountered before but still.

Up at just after 07:15.

Quiet for the most part, it being a very dark & rainy day, such conditions always leave me searching for motivation.

We had a dental appointment late this afternoon … which was booked in March!
I came thru with flying colours, the dentist was very pleased with me! 😊

We booked our next appointment as we were leaving - for next March!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1035 , Friday 28/08/2026

Friday started at crack of sparrow’s fart & I was down the gym before the rest of the avian world was fully awake!

Despite the fact that it rained cats, dogs & small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri last night there was little sign of it this morning in the Vally, although the leisure centre where my gym is based was flooded yesterday. Kudos to the staff there that there was little sign of it this morning!

A much better gym session today although my calf muscles are still rather stiff.

Did a few small jobs today, the bigger tasks seem to slip thru my grasp so easily these days!

Pizza for tea with a side order of Babylon 5.

After the rain the sun came out which made the day so much better - I swear I’m solar powered!

Saturday started at around 07:30 & was a relaxed & peaceful day that ended with a Chinese takeaway & Denzel Washington in ‘Inside Man’.

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day at all. Following Mrs S’s ethos of ‘you can only do what you can do’ which I normally don’t subscribe to but sometimes one simply does not have the energy to push beyond ones limits.

Beige.party is down as I write this so that’s my excuse for posting it late!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1037 , Sunday 30/08/2026

Up at 07:30, woken by the kids next door screaming & shouting.

After breakfast we went across to my late MiLs place to replace the bulbs I ordered during last week.

I took the tool boxes that have the tools for the charity back across, I’m storing them in the garage there while I get hold of the charity to come & collect them.

We stopped off at one of our favourite eateries for a roast chicken Sunday lunch - delicious!

Had a relaxed afternoon, episodes of ‘Foyle’s War’ & ‘Cadfael’ helping us along.

Beans on toast for tea, as neither of us were particularly hungry after the treat at lunchtime.

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day.

Public Holiday tomorrow so I think I might skip the gym & have a lie in.

Monday, being a public holiday, started with a lie in until 07:30.

Breakfast & a few basic chores got the day underway & then I had a couple of hours on the PS5 as Mrs S was doing some admin stuff.

All was well until late morning when we had a power cut for an hour!

We relaxed with a couple of Mrs S’s TV shows this afternoon & then finshed the day with a fried chicken takeaway & ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’ with Tom Hanks who is definitely one of my fave actors!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day at all, Northern Powergrid’s failure to provide power not withstanding!

I am slowly de-googling myself. I ditched everything bar gmail at the beginning of the year but now I am moving everything off. Or at least everything that I can find an active link to.

There are a couple of services that may prove interesting to move as they are pretty much incoming only info services but no doubt there is a way to get hold of them IRL.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 978 , Thursday 02/07/2026

Heck I completely missed that we have moved into July! Not that my brain is terminally fried or anything!

Up at 06:30 & then a day filled with chores, meal prep & Starfield.

I did also fit a hydraulic door closer to the bathroom door. We have had a spring loaded one on for ages to stop the moggy varmints getting in (because me n Mrs S had a habit of leaving the door open) & drinking out of the shower basin … not the healthiest water in the world!
The problem was that with the windows open the door slams shut & it was damaging the frame & the plaster around the frame.
So I managed to get a ‘small’ hydraulic closer & fitted it today. It is much more noticeable than its predecessor but even with the windows open blowing today the door now closes smoothly & quietly!

One of Mrs S’s gunky microwave meals for tea because I could not be arsed to do anything more challenging & we had run out of salad.

Final Thoughts.

Quite pleased with the new door closer - it’s weird how ones definition of success changes when there is so little to succeed at.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1040 , Wednesday 02/09/2026

Up early for the gym, a really good session as the scales finally proclaimed that I had lost a little weight!

Got home around 07:45 so that Mrs S could take the car to work.

A nice peaceful day, I even manged to spend 3 hours tidying my room - there is still a lot of paperwork to go thru, most of it I need to get stern with & throw away!
But I have boxed up the old Amp that I haven’t used in months & the Ps4 pro that has sat up there gathering dust. I had envisaged using it as a remote terminal for the PS5 but that never took off.

Watched ‘Apollo 13’ while I worked - such a good movie & one I know well enuf to be able to dip in & out of while still following the plot.

Even managed a couple of hours on the PS5 later this afternoon,

Not a bad day at all on the whole.

Thursday started just after 7am & took a pretty much instant down turn.

I had noticed a puddle of water by the door into the kitchen yesterday but I put it down to Mrs S spilling it & simply mopped it up. However it was back again this morning & although I wouldn’t put it past Mrs S to spill water twice to spill it in exactly the same spot seemed unlikely!

After some investigation it turned out to the coming from the cold water feed to the hot water system. It was only a minor leak so heaven only knows how long its been leaking for!

I have fixed the leak - I think, we shall see if the puddle reappears over night!

Final Thoughts.

I hate plumbing! We have had so many leaks over the years in so many different places!

Back at the gym in the morning & then the weekend begins!

Saturday started a bit late at 07:30.

Relaxing afternoon & then a fried chicken takeaway while watching the new Apple TV ‘Mayday’.

Not a bad day today although I wish I had had the energy to actually do more!

Well that was an utterly unremarkable day.

The repairs to the leak in the hot water system seem to be holding, which is a relief, I’ll put everything back together tomorrow.

We watched the first ep of ‘Star City’ this evening, if you liked ‘For All Mankind’ then I am sure you will enjoy this offshoot!

Final Thoughts.

I wish I had the motivation to do more, but it seems in frighteningly short supply at the moment.

Meanwhile the world spirals towards chaos & there seems to be little one can do to stop it.
When thugs in black tops & balaclava’s can terrorise Dover with impunity but vicars who peacefully protest against genocide are imprisoned as terrorists the world seems to be a place where little makes sense!

Monday started at crack of sparrows fart, down the gym just after 7am.

Had quite a hard session, both because it required more effort than usual & also because it was unusually busy so my routine was badly disrupted.

Got home had breakfast then did my chores.

Managed to bully myself into cleaning behind the cooker & do some more in the gargantuan task of clearing up the garage to make room for all the stuff from my parents in law’s house.

Motivation was low today but I am glad that I did get a couple of things done.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1042 , Friday 04/09/2026

Friday started early it being a gym day.

An extra task was thrown into the early morning mix with a check on the late evening change of joint fitting on the hot water system. The original fitting turned out to still be weeping when I checked at around 20:30 last night so I had to delve into my plumbing spares & dig out a replacement - sometimes, not often, hoarding anything that doesn’t move away fast enuf pays off!

The gym session went quite well, although I am finding that I am unsure if I have done 2 or 3 sets on the weights … I’m working on the theory that, when in doubt, if my arms are killing me then I’m on the 3rd set!

Breakfast & chores followed then motivation fled & I ended up having a quiet day with very little achieved. I had planned on doing some more in the garage but I could not find a place to start. Such is life at the moment.

Pizza for tea with a another few eps of ‘Babylon 5’ they really do not make TV this good any more!

Final Thoughts.

Another week has passed in the blink of an eye. This year has fled past, although given all that has occurred I’m not sure that is such a bad thing!

Tuesday has been somewhat of a wasted day.

I had a list of things I wanted to get done but floundered at the first hurdle.
